Memphis Bound

If you're reading this, I'm currently on my way to Memphis to see the UK Wildcats beat the UCLA Bruins in the Sweet 16.

The snacks are packed, we've got our game gear on, and we're probably watching Bridesmaids to pass the time. It's my first time to Memphis, so you better believe once we hit Beale Street, we'll be chowing down on some bbq and ready to cheer the cats to a victory.

Ill be back next week with all the deets!

Oh, and GO CATS!
Meg and I at the SEC Championship game!

Happily Laughter After

My mom showed me a facebook video awhile back of this Christian comedian named Chonda Pierce. She spoke of being on a plane with Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders and how they were just perfect and it was just disgusting. Well, I laughed and thought, "this lady is funny!"

See. Funny right?

Little did I know that she would be in the next city over the following month. I ended up going and honestly, laughed until I cried.

I admit that I find vulgar humor funny, in the right time and place. So I wasn't sure how I would like a "Christian" comedian, since I don't know if I've ever really heard one. Let me tell you, she was a hoot.  I may have been the loudest (at laughing) in my area. She talked about real life stuff; her life, her struggles, her relationships.

And while it was a comedic performance, she spoke a lot about her relationship with the Lord and her faith. It was amazing. She also sang, and she has an awesome voice!  She sang with her guest, Karyn, and they were just so so good.

I stepped out at intermission and bought my mom and myself Chonda's signed book, Laughing in the Dark. I can't wait to read about Chonda and learn more of her story.

If you have a chance, check out more from Chonda. You won't be disappointed.

My Obsessions...

I saw this questionnaire thing on Instagram one day, and it linked back to the TV Guide Magazine. Even though I'm not a celebrity, I thought it would be fun to do. Read along and see what you agree and disagree on.

My current favorite show... is Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

The first thing I watch when I wake up... Good Morning America at work. I don't watch tv in the mornings at home.

The show that always makes me laugh... Golden Girls. It never gets old. #alltimefave
What I eat while watching tv...chips. I'm a potato chip queen. Gimme Ruffles and french onion dip and I'm happy.

My dream costar... Paul Walker. Loved him.

The show I miss the most... Sex and the City

The funniest person on tv... James Corden. He's hilarious. I love Car Pool Karaoke.

The show I'd like to guest star on... Scandal. I'm a gladiator! Or Greys Anatomy. I've watched so many episodes I could practically do brain surgery myself.

My guilty pleasure... Pump Rules. There are people my age on there partying and acting a fool, and honestly, it is really sad....and I can't get enough of the drama.
What I am binge watching... The Following. But only while at work; I'm too scared to watch it at night alone.

My celeb crush...  Scott Foley. He is a bad ass on Scandal. And Instagram.

Friday Faves

Happy Friday!
Aren't you all SO flippin' glad it's the dang weekend? I'm ready for a weekend full of basketball tournament games and relaxation!

One of my faves from the week was attending the SEC tourney in Nashville this weekend. My fave part? Winning the championship!

And the nachos were a pretty close second. OMG the best nachos ever!

My absolute favorite part of the week? Having this little rugrat with me on Friday night. She is just the most fun and I absolutely love this age. 4 is FUN! Opie, my parents dog, was also over for a few days, and while he is a handful (insert eye roll), he's pretty fun too!

I received a package this week, and was super excited to see that I had received Shay Shull's (Mix and Match Mama) latest cookbook, Kids in the Kitchen. It has some yummy recipes in it, and I can't wait to get in the kitchen with my niece and cook up some tasty treats! Thanks so much, Shay!

It's Donut Friday here at work, and I have already taken full advantage! Obviously, it's my favorite work day of the week! Gimme all the donuts!

Linking up with Andrea, Christina, and Karlie

3 on Thursday: Negative Nancy Edition

I'm just going to keep it real here. I'm having a tough morning.

I hope you don't mind that I'm going on a bit of a rant today, but dang it, life isn't always happy and going my way. And today happens to be one of those days.  Sorry if you came here looking for something fun; I just don't have it in me today!

 Terrible hair day.
I washed my hair last night and it was damp when I went to sleep. And it is soooo bad this morning. The top is so big and the sides are super flat and stringy. Just not my day. And you know how it goes when  you have a bad hair throws off your whole day.

Major headache.
I have started clenching my jaws and grinding my teeth at night. Yes, I attractive. But I tend to wake up with headaches a lot and today is one of those days. Go me. Send meds!

Chipotle sucks.
I still haven't moved on from this one. If you saw my Instagram stories, you saw that I went to Chipotle for the very first time on Tuesday afternoon. And it was so disappointing!
I got the burrito, and it just wasn't good. The chicken was charred. It was bland. Ugh. I should have stuck with Qdoba! And yes, that was two days ago, and I'm still not over it!

Well there ya have it. Real life Melanie. I like blogs that keep it real with the good, the bad, and the ugly, so I hope you're ok with it too.

Here's to hoping tomorrow is even better!

SEC Tourney 2017

I was able to attend the SEC tourney this past weekend so I could cheer on my favorite team, the Kentucky Wildcats! Let me tell you, every single game I have ever attended has been exciting; there's just something about being amongst all the fans with crazy energy! And during tourney time? It's exciting times 10!

Meg and me in front of Bridgestone Arena.

Ashley Judd was just a few rows ahead of us. "Nasty woman" because of her poem during the women's march.

These nachos require more than just a caption. Y'all. Amazing!
If you're a health nut, you may want to skip this part....
Imagine it. Chips, baked beans, pulled pork, spinach queso, shredded cheese, salsa, and sour cream.
Best nachos ever.

So we won the game against Georgia, and I was able to go to the championship game on Sunday.

I stopped by Bojangles for breakfast. 1. I'd never been to Bojangles. And 2. because it's in BG, I am never there for breakfast. It was pretty good; I'd much rather have Chick-fil-a, but it was good.

Meg is my UK game partner-in-crime. Here we are on Sunday!

And I'm not ashamed to admit I went back for more nachos. This time, I left off the pulled pork and sour cream and they were even better than before. Totally worth the $15!

After an intense game, the Cats pulled off an awesome win against Arkansas!
2017 SEC champs!

This showed up in my time hop. We won the championship last year too!

And here we are 4 years ago.

I can't wait for the NCAA tourney. Fingers crossed for win #9!

Embarrassing Moments | Show & Tell Tues

Hi, friends.

Let me be honest, I have just been in a blogging funk. For a few days, I just lost my mo-jo. Didn't have anything to really write about, so I just took a few days off. Hopefully with this post, it will come back, and I'll be back for good. Sometimes we just have to take a breather, right?

So today, I'm linking up with Andrea to share an embarrassing moment or two. I seriously can. not. wait. to read these!

So I've thought of at least three embarrassing moments I could share, but I'm just not ready to put that out there for everyone to know. I mean they are beyond embarrassing. I just can't share.

But I did think of one embarrassing moment that I will never forget. So little known fact, sometimes when I'm alone in the confines of my own home, I like to burp out loud. Yes, it's gross and I'm appalled when I hear people do it in public. But when I'm alone at home, I will let one rip. And then I giggle at myself.

So picture me at 18 years old. I'd just started dating this guy and he was over at my house one night. At this point, we are still getting to know each other, still trying to impress each other, still trying to hide our flaws. We were watching tv, and for some reason I got up and went into my closet- probably to grab a sweatshirt or put something up.

Well, before I even knew it, I let out the biggest burp of my entire life. Ever. As soon as I did it, I realized I was not alone in my room, and had, in fact, burped in front of my new boyfriend. My face turned the brightest shade of red, and honestly, I didn't even want to face him.
He laughed. I laughed and apologized profusely. I was mortified. Mortified! It didn't scare him off, so it apparently wasn't a deal breaker, but good Lord. I had never been so embarrassed!
So, know that you know I burp when I'm alone and have embarrassed myself in front of a bf, it's your turn. Tell me something super embarrassing you have done. Make me feel better about myself!

Three on Thursday

Happy little Friday, friends! I'm here to share three of my favorite sites today. Hope you enjoy! :)

If you're new to Three on Thursday posts, I totally borrowed the idea from Not Entirely Perfect. It's a post of (3) things I'm currently loving and think you'd love too! It can be anything from products, foods, music, shows, books, etc. Basically anything that's worth sharing!

I've been using Poshmark for years, but some of my friends don't even know about it. I've been slacking. Here's how it works- you take photos of your item to sell, post the photos and description, enter your price, and post. As buyers, you can search for brands, items, or just a general browse. When you see something you like, you buy it. Y'all it's so easy, and I've cleared out so much stuff that I don't wear and sold it on here. They do take 20%, but I just list the price to where I'm covered.
Easy peasy!

the Skimm

I like the news, but I hate hate hate watching the news, and I'm not a big fan of reading papers. I do like staying pretty up to date though, and I do that by getting the simplified version of the news delivered to my email every morning. Yep, just sign up on their website and they will deliver the news in a fun, catchy way to your email. I can read it in less than 5 minutes and stay up to date on what's going on.

Read today's Skimm here

Oh, Mel on Facebook

You all know I took a big leap by opening my blog up a few months ago to people I actually know. I've gotten positive feedback from friends and friends of friends, and everyone has just been so nice about it. Why was I afraid?! I'm sharing this today, because I love sharing random things that I don't necessarily share on this blog or on my personal fb page. Things like all pink starburst and packs of Sharpies for $9. Those are exciting things, y'all! So do yourself a favor (and me too!) and go like that page. Pretty please with a cherry on top?!
