June Recap

We've completed another month, and July is here. Can you believe it? Time flies, right?

I've been a little MIA this month. Life gets busy, and I've been enjoying living it.

I started out June celebrating my little Mia's 9th birthday. 9 years old and still only 2 pounds. Love her little bony self.

I donated blood for the first time in years. The last time I donated, I almost passed out. This time, all was good! No passing out here.

I pulled a double jet-ski trailer this month. I was a nervous wreck!!! But I did it!

And this room still looks the exact same. Oops! I need another coat, but keep putting it off. Get it together, Mel!

I put my car up for sale. Yep. After a year, I'm ready to move on.

Drove a jet ski, alone, for the first time. Let me tell you....I didn't love it. I was so afraid I'd fly off and flip it. And getting it onto the ramp thing here. Well that was just hard. It took me 7 times, y'all! SEVEN!

We finished this book for book club. It was SO good you guys. Really good. And it really made you think about the system and those different from us.

Also finished this long awaited, uber popular series. Kinda boring to me. What did you all think?

We celebrated this chicky's 4th birthday. I just love this age so much!

Spent some time on the lake. I LOVE being on a boat in the water. Relaxing! And getting a tan is always a plus!

My mom had a giant tub of cheeseballs at the lake. And my life was complete. Is there anything better? I mean, really.

More visits with my niece and nephew. Love those munchkins.

Went to Louisville with a friend to see one of our long-lost besties.  Our first stop was the Kate Spade outlet. My favorite place!!!! And I love this wall behind their counter so so much. Would it be weird to recreate it in my office???

Finished our day of shopping and eating and visiting with my first trip to Marks Feed Store. BBQ was delicious. I even got a free bottle of my fave sauce!

AND a free slice of pie. This was just my day y'all. And this Buttermilk Pie was amazing!!!!!

And that's my June!

Hope your's was as fantastic as mine!

See you in July!

Friday Favorites- Entertainment Edition

It's been a hot minute since I blogged, but I just felt like I didn't have anything to talk about. You know how that goes?

Anywho- since my topics are pretty limited, I thought I'd give you a little review of some of my FAVORITE books and shows I've finished. If you haven't read or seen these, drop everything you are doing and pick these up.

You guys. This book. One of my favorites I've read in a long long time.  We read this in our book club for May, and it is by far my fave that we've read together.

A teacher is kidnapped and then something happens with her kidnapper and then there's a twist at the end. (Yes, I realize my summary skills are lacking in this post. And surprise! I am an English degree holder. But I just can't say anything without giving away the good stuff.)

Take my advice- read this book!!!

So this was our book club choice for June. One of our clubbers is a social worker and thought she would love this. We all loved it.

This book is about a social worker, a poor girl and her family who live and work on a farm in exchange for a place to live, and the Eugenics program that was in place in America from the 20s-70s. I didn't even know such a program existed.

It's not super heavy, but it's emotional and really makes you think. Great discussion book.

Pretty Baby

This book isn't a fave of mine....yet. Because I loved Mary Kubica's The Good Girl so much, we all decided to read this for our July book club. I'd love for you to read along with us. Let me know if you decide to read it or if you've already read it.

Orange is the New Black

Just finished the 4th season last weekend, and while it was kind of slow, it did have some great scenes. The baby mouse (gross!), the body parts, the death of a really good character, and then the final scene. What will Daya do?????

Also, I really want to read this book by the real Piper Chapman. Have you all read it?

Greys Anatomy

Did I tell you I finally finished Greys on Netflix? It took me months and months, but I finally watched from beginning to end....or the end of what was offered on Netflix. Such a good series. That Shonda Rhimes knows what she's doing. If you've been living under a rock, like I have, watch this series now!

Linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites!

Weekend Recap

My weekend was full and busy, but I feel like I got nothing accomplished. Does that make any sense at all?

Friday, I made last minute plans to have dinner with a friend. We ate at my favorite Mexican restaurant, that I've mentioned several times on this blog, picked up some paint supplies at Lowes, and then I went to see her new house.  C drove her husband's Jeep, so that makes running around even more fun, right?
#INeedAJeep

I woke up Saturday and had a text from a friend about getting pedis. Well I usually don't turn down that, so off we went. Two hours later, yes, 2 HOURS!, we had lunch.

We then ran to a shoe store to find some nude shoes. Do you all know how hard it is to find the perfect pair. Impossible. I found two pairs of wedges and had the hardest time deciding between the two. I ended up getting both, but felt guilty.....until Brandi sent me this snap later that night. Even though the sign was delayed, it was just the sign I needed to feel ok about it. ;)

After I got home, I decided I needed to get on the ball with this painting mess. Y'all, I've had these plans for months, but have been too scared and lazy to do it. Painting is hard work, you guys.

After the first coat.....

And after the second coat.....

And judging by these photos, you can see why I was hesitant. It's a hot mess. It definitely needs another coat, but I think I need to buy more paint. Even though I used a trimmer contraption, I still got paint all over everything, so touch ups on the trim are required. Thankfully, Mom said she would come over tomorrow and finish. #ThankGod4Mothers

I really think once it's finished correctly, it will look awesome with my leopard chair. But doesn't it look pink in the photos? Yeah, its supposed to be coral. The name is even Dishy Coral. But it looks pink. I don't care. I'm not changing it at this point.

After church on Sunday, I went to the lake with my parents. I hadn't driven this particular jet ski or tried to load it onto this little ramp, jet ski holder thingy, so I attempted that.

Yall. It took me 7 tries to get it on there. 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say, I was done with it for the day. I was so afraid I was going to jump the dock, and afraid I was going to flip it over while driving it. I need more practice, obviously.

I spent a few hours on my parents boat and in the water. It was so nice.

I'm hoping for more shopping, dining, and time on the lake this week. And a manicure to go with that pedicure would be nice too.

Stranded: 3 Netflix Shows

Y'all know I love me a good Netflix series to be obsessed with. Like, it's my favorite thing to do on a rainy, chilly day.

I actually was wishing for a stormy weekend last weekend so I could binge watch Greys. Truth.

So needless to say, the linkup with Shay and Erika today about Netflix on a deserted island is right up my alley. And hello....this is the best island ever if I can watch Netflix.

Sons of Anarchy

I watched this a few years ago, and I've actually thought about watching it again because it is that good! I never thought I would be into a show about a biker gang, but guys. OHMYGOSH! It's so good.

Parenthood

This is one of the best dramas I've ever seen. You guys, I cried. I laughed. I felt like I was a Braverman the entire series. And then wished I were a Braverman after it was over. So so good. I have yet to talk to someone that did not like this show. It's seriously for everyone!

Greys Anatomy

I literally just finished this series and I'm sad I have to wait for the next season to be released. Remember above when I said I was wishing for storms so I could binge? It didn't storm, but I binged anyway. And I cried and boo-hoo'd for an hour when McDreamy died. Serious. Eyes were puffy.

And this meme is so true!!!!

Yep. It's true!

What series would you watch on the island?

If you want to link up, here are the topics:

And here are my previous linkups for Stranded.

What's In My Bag {Show & Tell}

Y'all. These are my absolute favorite posts to read.

Maybe because I'm curious to see what others carry.

Or probably because I'm just 100% nosy.

I'm linking up with Andrea today for her Show & Tell series. Today's post? What's in my bag?

Let's dig in, shall we?

I'm carrying a Kate Spade Turn Over a New Leaf LEN tote. And guys, it's huge! Uuuuuge! Like I could fit a small child in this bag.

Let's dig in, shall we?

Since I could carry my entire house in this bag, I have a lot of unnecessary junk in there. For the sake of not boring you to death, I will stick with the basics.

Like my Kate Spade Layton Wellesley Wallet.
Holds all my junk, plus a key and my phone. It's tight, but I can do it.

I use this cute little card holder key ring thing to hold my phone cord and extra charger. Ya never know when you will need it.
Tag says Artsy Anthropology, but the owner has since changed to Whitney Paige Designs. Pretty sure you can still find her on etsy.

Sonia Kashuk makeup bag holds all of the essentials- lip gloss, chapstick, perfume, nail polish remover pads, nail clippers, etc.

And I'm obsessed with pens, so I keep a little pencil pouch in my bag. This one is Kate Spade x Gap Kids and says Play Hooky on the front. Cute, right?

Those other goodies you see? My keys, ibuprofen, sunglasses, awesome goodies for the girls, lotion, and a little Target card case for all of my loyalty cards. Exciting, I know.

And here are the topics for the year, if you want to join in!

What's in your bag?
