Friday Faves

Back once again to share. Link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci.

I loved sharing my living room with you guys yesterday. I'm super proud of how it turned out.
See it here

Hardee's Biscuit and Gravy have been on heavy rotation for breakfast the past few weeks. Nothing better than a hot meal when it's cold outside.

Hanging out with my girlfriends. As crazy as I am, they still hang out with me. And for the record, half of them are just as crazy as me.

Milkshakes are always my fave. Even when it's below freezing outside.
And Bruster's milkshakes just happen to be my absolute fave!

FLASH SALES are my fave! And Silpada has a great one today!
Get this super trendy, ultra chic sterling silver and swarovski crystal necklace 1/2 off today only for only $23.50. Think birthdays, anniversaries, Easter, Mother's Day, graduations, Valentine's Day.....or my fave, just because!

Living Room Tour

I've been in my new place for about 2 months now, and let me tell ya, it's been a sloooooow process getting things together. In fact, I've only completed 1 whole room in the entire house. And it still isn't 100% complete.

Even with those 3 little things hanging in the air, I'm in LOVE with this space. It's not 100% the look I was going for, but it's pretty dang close!

Here's a reminder of what my little house looks like. Come on in.....

Without further adieu, here's my living room!

This is my favorite view in the entire house (pic above). I wanted to go with all neutrals, but I saw this print above the couch and knew I just HAD to have it.

I took my time in finding the exact pieces I wanted and loved, instead of just buying stuff to fill the space.

So sorry for the poor quality photos. Sometimes ya win with the iPhone camera, sometimes you lose.

I decided to hand the curtains from the ceiling to make the ceilings look taller, and you guys, it actually works. I can tell such a difference in here compared to a room where curtains are hung just above the windows. Btw- I still need to steam the curtains. Ignore the wrinkles.

Some of the pieces I already had, like this recliner, the fireplace, and end tables. They were too good to sell and replace, so I decided to keep them. I do have paint in the cabinet for the tables. It scares me, so it may take awhile for me to pull the trigger.

I'm not exactly sold on this wall yet. I think it's the sofa table and mirror above it. Something just feels off about it.

If you hadn't noticed from the pictures above, there is no overhead lighting. Not even a ceiling fan. While I normally don't use overhead lighting anyway, it's still nice to have when I do need it. Hopefully that will be remedied sooner than later.

I'm also not sold on the paint. This was the color the previous owner had. While it is a neutral, it's a little "gold" for me and what I had planned. I wouldn't be so hesitant to paint if the ceilings didn't have to be painted too. They are the same color as the walls.

So there ya go. Hopefully I'll complete another room soon and share with you guys.
Come again!

Snowmaggedon Jonas

I got a whopping 12 inches this weekend, and it was Jonas.

Get your mind out of the gutter. I'm talking about Jonas, aka Snowmaggedon 2016. And those 12 inches were snow. And that's a lot for Kentucky.

I actually got a snow day on Friday, which never happens, so I spent the day doing what any productive gal would do on an unexpected day off.

I slept. I ate. And I watched Netflix. Duh.

When I finally did venture out, I wore my super comfy boots with the fur.

My guard dog stayed out in the cold and foot of snow to keep guard on the neighborhood.
Which was pretty quiet and peaceful over the weekend.

I got home Saturday night to see an UGO- an unidentified glowing object. Turns out, my solar landscape lights must have gotten some sun and one was glowing. Freaky!

The sun finally came out on Sunday, and Mia lounged in the sun, watching my neighbor shovel my driveway, and plows go up and down the road.

It's Tuesday now, and I'm back to work. And instead of sleeping, eating and Netflixing, I'm just eating. But that's another topic for another day.....

Snow Day

It's here! The first snow of the year!

I pulled out the snow boots, the boots with the fur.

And made my way, slowly, to work.

I thought snow days were for snuggling under the covers in the comfort of your own home?

Stay warm, friends!

Currently: January Edition

It's been a hot minute since I've done a "Currently" post. No time like the present, right?

This is one of my Mom's favorite books, so she basically made me read it. I'm on like chapter 2, so I have no idea how good it really is. I'll update you.

Listening To
XM Radio. I took the plunge and signed up for Sirius XM radio. It's all I listen to now.
90s on 9
KIIS- Los Angeles
Z100- NY
The Highway
Prime Country

And basically every song over 5 years old comes on, and I'm like "OH MY GOD THIS SONG IS MY FAVORITE!" Every. Single. Song. And if you follow me on snapchat (melanie_ks), you'll see me either belting out those songs, or playing them so you can enjoy them too.

Uggs. All the time. I don't care if they are in or out of style, they are so comfy and warm. And these bomber jacket brown ones are my absolute faves!

You guys. I decided to start Greys Anatomy from the very beginning recently. I quit "real tv" watching about season 5, so I have a lot to catch up on. And y'all.  I am obsessed. I can't get enough!

To get my house together. I moved in November, and my guest bedroom and office are still empty. I have loads of boxes in my garage that need to be sorted and emptied. I just keep putting it off. Who cares, right?

Mexican food. Cheese dip. Rice and beans. All the Mexican food.

Monthly reports for job #2. They are the pits, you guys. I may or may not be a year behind. Oops.

Looking Forward To

I found out two weeks ago that I'm going to be the Aunt to a little boy in May. I cannot wait! ALL THE FEELS!

Cold. Freezing Cold.

There ya have it! Happy Tuesday!

Slumby Party

I had my very first "slumby party", as she calls it, with my niece on Friday. Y'all. I had the most fun! Maybe more than she did.

We played baby dolls and daycare. A lot.

We ate pizza, and ice cream, and pepperonis.

We played puzzles and matching on the ipad.

We had trouble going to sleep. Stall tactics are real, y'all. Very real. And I could not sleep a wink while she was there.

I was absolutely and completely worn out after. I may have crashed that night and slept better than I had in weeks.

This 3 year old cracks me up. I thought I'd share a few notes from our night:

1. We ordered pizza and she couldn't grasp the concept that they brought it to my front door. She has never witnessed pizza delivery. The shame.

2. She wanted a girl to deliver. Not a guy. I told her the girl must have been at home.

3. We forgot to pray before we ate, so we stopped halfway through our pizza party to pray.

4. We also forgot ranch. Mel didn't have ranch.

5. Where's the chicken? She wanted chicken. I didn't order chicken. She only told her mom she wanted pepperoni.

6. She woke up at 2 am. We chatted for about an hour about what we would do when we woke up again.

7. Then she asks, "When's the slumby party?"
Ummm...was she wanting balloons?

I love that she enjoyed her first slumby party with Mel, and she was ready the next night to come back. Mel may need more recovery time though.

Friday Faves

Sharing my favorites from this week with you!

Link up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea!

I'm at Chickfila way more than I'd like to admit. It's a good thing I don't have one in the town I live in. It would be bad. Anywho, I had my very first Frosted Lemonade last weekend, and Holy Moses! It was so yummy!

I needed a new series to watch, and since I quit a few seasons in, I decided to re-watch Greys Anatomy from the beginning. Y'all. I forgot how good this is. I've been staying up way too late to get in one more episode. So good.

One of my very best friends had her 3rd baby girl this week. She is the tiniest little thing and is such a cutie! It almost gave me baby fever. Almost.

I finally got to host my 2nd annual Friendsmas last week. I had to cancel the original because I was sick the week before, and unfortunately some couldn't come due to the new date.

But y'all. I have the best friends ever. We do a mug exchange, eat, play games, gossip, and before we swapped mugs, my friends surprised me with housewarming gifts. I was totally shocked. They were so generous and it was so thoughtful of them.

I'm so excited about my last favorite thing. My spitfire of a niece is staying with me tonight (for the very first time) for what she calls a "slummy" party. She says we are having pizza, pepperonis for snacks and breakfast, and we are going to watch Mickey movies. Her Mom is already dreading not having her home, and to be honest, I'm a little nervous the turkey will want Mom in the middle of the night. Send good thoughts my way tonight if you remember. ;)

Have a good weekend, friends!
