Confession Session

It’s hump day. I’m just excited that we are that much closer to the weekend. And a long weekend at that. Halle-freaking-lujah! I haven’t confessed in a long while, so I thought today was the perfect day!

- I ordered a new Kate Spade purse last week. I have been wanting this purse ALL summer long. I finally found one on eBay for a great price, but some twat waffle beat me by $2.00 in the very last second. I was pissed. The last damn second!!!

-I got a new iphone 5s the other day. I wanted to wait for the 6, but heard it would be several more hundred dollars, and I just don’t have time for that. I have purses to buy, dammit. There was nothing wrong with my 4s, and to be honest, I don’t see a huge difference in this one. Also, I realize I’m about a year behind everyone getting this. And I don’t care.

-I feel like I’m just treading water lately. You know that feeling? Like your are just going through the motions and life is happening, but you don’t really feel it. Yeah. It’s a bad feeling, but I’m not sure what to do to get out of that funk.

-I’m in the middle of two classics- To Kill a Mockingbird (at work) and Tess of d’Urbervilles (home). I’ve never read Tess, so I thought it would be a good book to read before I start my book club book. I’m on chapter 2. Ugh.

-Can these ice bucket challenges be over? I promise I’m not a bad sport, but I hate them. They clog my newsfeed. Yes, it’s awesome people are more aware. It’s awesome that donations have increased. But I donate to charities. I don’t need to post all about it on facebook. And honestly- how many of the people doing them have actually donated???? How many just did the challenge to put it on fb?

-I’ve been pretty subdued lately, so I obviously haven’t had anything blog worthy. But to be honest, have I ever? Ha

That’s all I got today, folks. What’s going on in your world?

The Blog Baton

Guess who gets to hold The Blog Baton tomorrow on insta? This girl! And I couldn’t be more excited, you guys!

Blogger, Mason from Mason…Like the Jar, came up with this fabulous idea. Here is how she describes it on The Blog Baton page:

Every week day, a different blogger will take over the Blog Baton Instagram account just for that day. Instead of this baton being city-specific and a way to learn about places and things in a particular area, this will be a way to learn about YOU and things in YOUR life and on YOUR blog. Take pictures throughout your day, share interests, do an OOTD, show us your morning Starbucks or your fresh manicure, share the Pinterest recipe your cooked for dinner...whatever! The choice is yours. This is a way for you and your blog to reach more people in this community of ours.

How cool is that? Be sure to follow me tomorrow on instagram under The Blog Baton account.

Pretty sure this is how I will feel all. day. long.

See you guys tomorrow!

Weekend Shenanigans

Well, I’ve already lied to you and I haven't even completed the first sentence. It wasn’t intentional, but that title is all wrong.

Shenanigans didn’t happen.

Other than going to the lake for a few hours on Saturday, I stayed home in comfies, binged on Netflix episodes of The Killing, ate my weight in junk food because HELLO MONTHLY VISITOR, cleaned a tad bit and caught up on naps.

The weather was nasty, rainy, and stormy. It was glorious. And I enjoyed every minute!

What kind of shenanigans did you get into this weekend?

Weekly Wrap-Up

It’s Friday afternoon, and many of you are probably packed up and gone for the weekend. However, I’m still at work with 50 minutes left. I. Can. Make. It.
Since I’ve been a less-than stellar blogger this week, here’s what I’ve been up to… and I’m sharing both the cool things and uncool things that happened. Get ready.

Having margaritas and Mexican food on a patio with my best friend. That’s cool.

Getting a manicure and pedicure one night. Cool.

Having my nail polish chip off in LESS than 24 hours. Not cool.

Talenti gelato in Sea Salt Caramel. Way cool.

Sitting in elementary school pick-up line. So not cool.

Getting a box of Silpada jewels delivered to my door step. Cool.

Finally finishing a book you don’t like because you refuse to stop in the middle. Not cool.

Miss Priss lying on a blanket with her little feet crossed. Well that’s just precious.

Have a great weekend, friends!

The Killing

I wasn’t feeling the best this weekend (chills, vomiting, along with major anxiety and wanting to cry over every little thing), so I read my book club book and watched embarrassing amounts of Netflix.

My new favorite show on there? The Killing. It’s dark, gruesome, and of course, I love it.

If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor, and check it out. You won’t want to stop watching.

Truck Stop {Book Club}

Remember that time I told you that some friends and I were in a book club? You know, we meet at one of the restaurants in town once a week, stuff our faces, talk about the book, and then life. Well it’s our 2nd month of Book Club, and this time we are reading Truck Stop by Evan Richardson.

Richardson is from our hometown, and the town in the book is supposed to be based on ole Glasgow. Richardson now lives in NYC and is a celebrity make-up artist.

Here’s a synopsis of the book found on Amazon.com:

When Lulu Mae married Hank, she thought he would help her become her dream of being a country western singer. But when she realized that all Hank wanted was a wife and for Lulu Mae to waitress in his honky-tonk truck stop saloon, as she had at the diner where he met her, she soon began an affair with the handsome new bartender, Brad.
Then a car containing two of the main characters goes over a hill and crashes to the bottom with a tremendous explosion, destroying most of the evidence as to the cause. The sheriff’s department is quick to attribute the tragedy to a faulty accelerator, but crafty old Sheriff Bob, after fifty years on the police force, secretly suspects it was murder.
As the law scrambles to piece together the event with what evidence they have, the one or ones responsible for the crime try to wangle out of the hands of justice as the plot thunders to a dynamic conclusion where everyone has their final rendezvous with destiny to even the score in this lurid tale of obsessive sexual desire, murder, greed, and betrayal in a small rural Kentucky town one steamy-hot summer, set in a honky-tonk truck stop saloon situated along the Southern interstate.

I can’t wait to open (or download rather) this book and dig in. And yes, this English major will be taking notes and coming up with discussion questions for our group meeting next week!

Sometimes, I love being a nerd!

What are you reading?

Life Lately

I hit one of my blogging slumps last month...you know how it comes and goes with me sharing my life with complete strangers...or the 3 people I know in real life that come to this little spot when they are bored. ;)

If you are, by chance, someone other than those 3 kind friends, then you  may not know what's been going on in my little spot in Kentucky. Don't worry though...you haven't missed much.
I've been spending every weekend that I can in the water. I could seriously float on that dirty lake water every single day and not tire of it.

I'm not a huge sushi eater, but was craving it last week. It wasn't the best I’ve had, so I'll probably stick to the shrimp fried rice I also tried…until I crave it again in another year or so.

The new Silpada catalog came out, and needless to say, I want everything! Feel free to check it out at mysilpada.com/melanie.smith and let me know what you love!

Anxiety sucks. So much.

Finally, you must watch this movie if you haven’t already. I saw it twice in theaters and bought it the day it came out. Love it.

What have I missed in Bloglandia since I’ve been MIA?
