Dream Job As A Kid

I don’t want to brag, but I’m kicking this Blogtober challenge’s ass. 2 for 2 baby!

Today’s topic is what dream job did you have as a kid?
Well, my friends, I had two.

First, and foremost, I wanted to be a teacher. For as long as I can remember, I always pretended I was a teacher.

I would teach whatever it was we’d done in school the week before. I even had a room at my Nanny’s with chalk and dry erase boards hung up on the doors, a desk, and I even went so far as to eat the same snack as the teachers in my school, because I assumed that’s what teachers did. (It was Chex Mix, by the way.)

I would make seating charts. Assign homework. Grade homework. Do math problems on the board. etc. etc.

Funny story- I actually became a teacher. A high school English teacher. And boy, was it different than how I always had imagined. Needless to say, I’m no longer teaching. You can read about that mess here.

My other dream job was to own a bookstore called Shop Around the Corner, after…you guessed it… You’ve Got Mail.

I wanted to be just like Kathleen Kelley and have a magical little bookstore that kids would love. I wanted the exact same store in the exact same city. Unfortunately, that little dream never did come true. I’d still love to do this. Maybe one day.

Along the same lines as this topic, I did a post not long ago about some odd jobs I found interesting. Check them out!
