Vegas, Baby

Guess where I'll be going to celebrate my big 3-0?

On Friday morning, I'll be on a plane heading to Sin City to celebrate my birthday!

I cannot wait. I don't really do the gambling thing; I'd much rather spend my money on actual stuff I can bring home with me. I love seeing the sights, a show or two, eating at all of the fun restaurants, and shopping until I go broke.

Whatever we do, it will be fun.

Costume/Jewelry Party

A friend of mine had a jewelry party for me this weekend, and since it was so close to Halloween, she decided to make it a costume party too. How fun is that?

Last minute, I decided to go as one of my favorite funny characters on tv: Amy Farrah Fowler.

If you don't know this character, then a. you are missing out, and b. you thought I was either a 90 year old nursing home resident or a hobo. And you would be wrong.

The tiara on my head is from one of my favorite episodes of Big Bang Theory- where Sheldon gives Amy the tiara.

I may or may not have quoted this entire scene all night weekend long. Hands down, my favorite!

Amy, which was also the name of my awesome party host, had the cutest food: pumpkin veggie platter, mummy dogs, spinach and artichoke dip, and witches broomsticks. I kind of wish I had some of it now.

While I didn't get Amy Farrah Fowler down to a T, I did the best I could with what I had in my closet. And according to my brother-in-law, that is a scary thought.

5 Favorites {from Instagram}

I love instagram. I really do. You can post a picture of anything, not have to describe it, and let it be. I also think you can learn a lot about people from what they post.

Here are a few of my fave posts from my instagram this week. If you follow me, which you all should, you've already seen them. If not, then follow me now! :)

 Moon Pie Sandwich
I'm not a huge fan of Moon Pies, but put ice cream in it and wow! It was so yummy. So good. So rich. I honestly couldn't even eat all of it it was so rich. Hunt these down and try one.

Homemade Ice-Cream and Pie Kitchen
I was introduced to this heaven on Earth this past summer and fell in love. Tons of homemade pies and tubs of icecream. What more could you want? On a late-night drive through Louisville, I saw a flashing sign that named my favorite place. And it was still open. I made a quick u-turn and rushed to get inside. This picture is chocolate chess pie and vanilla ice-cream. I kinda want some now.

"Mel"
One of my favorite things is facetiming my niece. It never gets old. She's 16 months, and for as long as she's been around, I've been trying to get her to say Mel. Well one night this week, she finally did. Twice. My heart may have exploded. Love this sweet girl.

Country Grammar
Instead of listening to the radio, I much prefer my playlist on my phone. Recently, however, I've just hit shuffle and jam to whatever comes up. Yesterday on my drive to a session, old-school Nelly came on. You best believe I turned that shit up and rapped my heart out to Country Grammar.

Chicken Cheese Enchilada Soup
I got home semi-late last night- too late to cook anything, but I didn't want to do drive-thru. I pulled out this can of soup and hoped for the best. You see, I don't like soups from a can. I just don't. Call me picky. I opened this can, put it in the microwave, and by the time that little white box beeped, I could smell something yummy. And it tasted just as good as it smelled. You guys, I ate the whole can. That was a first! Try it. You will love it!

Obviously, I like to eat since 3 of these photos was of food. And two of my other favorites- my sweet niece and good music!

Follow me on instagram so you can see my pictures. My username is melanie_ks.

What I'm Watching

Since I know you are soooo interested in what I'm watching when I get home from work, I decided to share a few of my faves- both on my dvr and Netflix.

Parenthood

This isn't one that I can't wait to get home to watch, but I know it's there when I'm bored, and I know I'll like it. It's a feel good show about family and struggles that each of us have either gone through or know someone that is. Great show.

The Vampire Diaries

Yes, I know I'm late to the party. I just started watching this a few weeks ago when I had nothing going on. Guys. I'm hooked. I love watching Elena and Stefan be a sweet little couple with Damon's smart-ass thrown in. Love it.

Sons of Anarchy
I'm all caught up and finally watching this in real-time. When I was watching it on Netflix, I was obsessed. However, this season is a little disappointing to me. Am I alone with this? It's just lost something, and I don't know what it is.  Hopefully it will pick back up again.

Hart of Dixie

Love this cute little show. I love the small-town aspect of it. Wade is hot. I want to be Zoe. I find myself talking like her after I watch it and using her mannerisms. So glad it is back on.

The Walking Dead

It's baaaaack! Sunday's episode was so much better than the season premier. I can't wait to see what happens next. It keeps me on the edge of my seat, granted my eyes are wide open and my jaw is usually on the ground.

What shows are must-watches for you?

Pepperoni Pull-Apart Bread

I decided on the drive home last night that I would make some pepperoni pull-apart bread for dinner. I'd made bacon and cheese once before and it was delicious, so I knew pepperoni could only be better.

I'd seen this on Pinterest, of course, when I was getting the recipe for the bacon and cheese bread. I never opened the recipe, but I pretty much knew what I'd need from making the bacon and cheese.

I got home, grabbed my ingredients and got to work.

I didn't measure anything, just used my eye and went with it. Here is a list of the ingredients with guesses on the quantity.

Ingredients
-2 cans biscuits
-3/4 cup butter, melted
-appx. 1 tsp garlic powder mixed with melted butter
-appx. 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-appx. 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
-appx. 1/2 cup chopped turkey pepperoni **I use turkey pepperoni because I actually like the taste better, and it's less greasy.
-optional- parmesan cheese, marinara sauce

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cut or tear biscuits into bite-size pieces and dip in garlic butter.
3. Layer biscuits, cheeses, and pepperoni in pan. **I used loaf pan, but I've seen where a bundt pan works really well.
4. Cover with foil and bake appx. 45 minutes or until dough in middle is cooked through thoroughly.

5. Top with parmesan cheese or side with marinara sauce.

I may have burned my tongue on the first bite because I just couldn't wait for it to cool before trying a bite. I didn't have marinara on hand, but I'm sure it would make it even better! I did top it with some parmesan cheese, and it was really good.

You will want to make this immediately! It was super easy, so yummy, and I can't wait to get home to have leftovers for lunch!

Boredom

Y'all. I've been bored.

With everything.

I'm sure you've noticed I haven't been blogging lately. At all. I haven't been interested in reading blogs either. And it's not just with blogging.

It's with work. With home. With life. I need a change, but I'm not quite sure what that would be or how I would do it.

What do you do to get out of a funk?

Damn You, Converse

I had plans for a day of shopping this past Saturday. We were going to stop at a festival full of vendors and food trucks, then head on to Louisville to hit up a few malls.

I woke up to lots and lots of rain, so I threw on some rainboots, but I also brought a change of clothes (or 2) and my polka dot Converse since I knew I'd probably be soaked.

We ended up skipping the festival, but I wore my rainboots through one mall considering it was still pouring outside. After conquering the first mall, I made a quick wardrobe change in the back and put on my cute little Converse shoes.

By the end of mall #2 about 3 hours later, I felt like I was dying. My feet were on fire. It seriously felt like I had been wearing heels while running a marathon. What was the deal? These were tennis shoes. I see people wearing them all the time, so they can't be that bad, right?

I ended up having to buy a new pair of tennis shoes (that I had my eye on anyway). I was ready to toss these damn Converse shoes in the trash.

Have you all had trouble with them being super uncomfortable? Or just me?

Book Club

So I was sitting on the couch last night watching what was probably the worst season premier I've ever seen, The Walking Dead, and I had a grand idea that was totally not original to me.

I want to be in a book club.

I want to read a book and discuss it with other people that have read it. It's the English major nerd in me. I almost asked the facebook world if anyone was interested, but got embarrassed. Some people may think it is the most ridiculous idea ever and think I'm lame. So I didn't.

But what about you guys? Would any of you bloggers be interested in an online book club? Obviously we couldn't meet at the local Mexican restaurant and discuss characters and plots over chips and cheese dip, but we could discuss online or in a fb group or something.

What do you think? Anyone slightly interested?

Fundraiser

I posted yesterday about my aunt, and I so appreciate the sweet comments and prayers for her and my uncle.

A friend and fellow Silpada sister came up with the idea of hosting a fundraiser to help them with expenses. Tommy, my uncle, has been staying in Louisville every day and night to be with my aunt, Cindy. They don't have any income coming in since they have not been working since the accident. My cousins have been traveling back and forth constantly to balance work and being with their mom and dad. It is unknown how long they will be there. This fundraiser will, I hope, help with some of the financial burden that has come with this accident.

As you may have read last week, I recently started selling Silpada Sterling Silver Jewelry. It is .925 sterling silver, just like the jewelry that comes in that little blue box. Every piece is hand-made by artisans around the world. It also has a lifetime guarantee. I love it.

During this fundraiser, 100% of my profits will be donated to them to help with some of these expenses. If you would like to help, please visit my site, choose Cindy Tracy Fundraiser as the hostess, and a percentage of the sale will go to helping my aunt, uncle, and their children during this time. Every little bit helps, and I hope this fundraiser can help them in some way.

Please feel free to share this fundraiser with your friends, family, and/or readers. And if you will, please continue to pray for her recovery. God bless each and every one of you.

Prayers for Team Cindy

My aunt was in a terrible auto accident last Monday, Sept. 30th. While she was driving to work, a motorcycle t-boned her in her driver-side door. She was flown from the scene to UofL hospital (almost 2 hours away), and is currently in a coma. The motorcycle driver was killed.

I'm asking each and every one of you that read this to take a few seconds to say a prayer for her healing and recovery. Pray for the doctors and nurses that are taking care of her. Pray for her husband and family to be strong through this. Pray for the family of the motorcycle driver.

I know that God hears our prayers and He is the ultimate healer.

Thank you so much.

Silpada Goes Pink

It's October and that means it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Everything turns pink this month in honor of those that have and have had breast cancer, and bringing awareness to women everywhere for early detection.

Silpada is on board with that. This awesome company has two bracelets that for each one sold, they will send $10 to the Living Beyond Breast Cancer foundation.

The first bracelet is a pearl and sterling silver stretch bracelet called Courage to Shine On. Silpada has included a free pink Swarovski crystal charm valued at $19 with each bracelet. For only $49 (plus tax and shipping), you can wear this or give this gorgeous bracelet while Silpada helps the LBBC foundation.

The second bracelet created is a pink quartz beaded bracelet and has the word "courage" stamped on a sterling silver charm and is called the Bravery bracelet. This bracelet retails for $39 (plus tax and shipping). Again, $10 of that will go to LBBC.

Bling Bling

I'm not sure if I've shared this with you guys yet, but I signed up in August to be a Silpada Designs Representative, and I could not be more excited!

Silpada isn't like a lot of the other "jewelry party" companies that you've seen or heard of before. Silpada isn't costume jewelry, it is .925 sterling silver jewelry, just like that major jewelry brand that comes in a pretty blue box. After ordering, there is a 60 day period where you can return or exchange free of charge. After that, there is a lifetime guarantee for any jewelry that breaks or is damaged for any reason whatsoever.

The Fall/Winter catalog came out at the beginning of September and all of the new items in it are still 10% off!

Today marks the release of our Fall/Winter Holiday Gift Guide, which introduced 29 new pieces of jewelry! I've already got my eyes on a few of the pieces and am adding them to my wishlist today!

Silpada makes the perfect gift for your sister, mom, friend, and most importantly, yourself!

Let me know if you are interested in ordering something, or feel free to shop around my personal website.

I know once you own a piece of Silpada, you'll be hooked just like I am!

 Have a great day, friends!

Bunco

For the past three months, I've been a sub for a Bunco group. It has been so much fun. Whomever is hosting provides the meal and the prizes. Each time I've been, the food has been absolutely delicious, the ladies have been so nice, and I've had the best time.

The first time I went, I got the loser's prize (I had the most losses that night).

This time, I got the traveling Bunco prize. This is the first time I've ever had a Bunco in my entire life. You'd have thought I'd won the lottery as excited as I was. The prize was a Coton Colors Halloween bowl. It is the cutest thing ever.

Now, I just need a Happy Everything pumpkin attachment to go on my plate to match!

Keep calling me, Bunco ladies! I'll sub anytime!

October, baby!

It's my birthday month, guys, and I fully expect to enjoy every single day of it!

When friends asked how I planned on starting it out, I jokingly said with a Big Mac. I may or may not have really meant it.

And this will be me. All month long! :)
