TV Show Addiction

I love having shows saved onto my DVR; shows that I can't wait to race home to see. Yes, I realize that sounds super lame of me, but it gives me something to look forward to on those days when I have nothing going on and all I want to do is lounge on the couch and veg. Luckily for me, there are finally some shows that are on tv that I actually like. Ready for this?

New Girl

While this isn't new, I've just now started watching it on Netflix. I love it, you guys. I am so much like Jess...quirky, weird, super fun. I think we'd totally be bffs if I happened to live near her...and if she were a real person. But I'm sure Zooey is the same, so basically I can be bffs with her.

Big Brother 15

I'm obviously late to all of the parties, because this show is on it's 15th season, and I'm just now starting to watch it. You can thank Jade for getting me hooked. Her incesant tweets about it made me want to see what the hooplah was about.

Summer Camp USA

This is like one of those MTV Challenges, but without the sex and language....so far. But hopefully all of that will start happening. Anywho, the drama keeps me watching.

Devious Maids

I'm not sure why this reminds me of Desperate Housewives, but it so does. I didn't love it when I first started watching, but now I'm hooked and can't stop watching. I have to find out what happens.

Pretty Little Liars

Again, this show isn't new and is on it's 4th season, but it's my #1. I don't know how they have all of these twists and things still going on after all of this time, but I keep watching to see who the heck A is. I have to know!

Do you watch any of these? What tv shows are you hooked on?

Recipe: Brie Cups

I believe I promised last week that it would be the last recipe for awhile, but I have just one more. Don't hate me.

As you may recall, I had a Silpada jewelry party last Monday, so I had to find some yummy foods to serve. I had seen this recipe on Pinterest, and I knew I had to make it at some point. What better time than during a party?

The thing that attracted me to this recipe the most was that it only took three ingredients: phyllo cups, brie, and jam. I chose strawberry.

I cut the brie into small cubes, placed them in the phyllo cups, then topped them with some jam. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is soft and slightly melted, and serve.

I'm telling you, these were delicious!

Have you tried them? What did you think?

Prayers Please

I wasn't going to share this, but felt the need to ask for prayers.

My step-dad, who Im super close to, work for, and love like my own dad, is going in for open-heart surgery this morning at 10. I know the power of prayer is real, and if you know it too, please say one for him. Say one for his doctors that are caring for him, for his family that is extremely worried and nervous, and again, for him. Thank you so so much.

Happy Friday, readers. Hope you have a great weekend.

Fruit Kabobs

Guys. I promise I'm not turning into Martha Stewart or Rachel Ray, but I have yet another recipe how-to this morning. I'm apparently on a productive kick lately, but no worries, I think it's over.

My parents had a party at the lake on the 4th. I know, I know, that was weeks ago. While it was rainy and chilly and a terrible day for 4th of July festivities, everyone had a great time!

I wanted to do something semi-patriotic, so I looked all over Pinterest for some ideas, and I decided to make red, white, and blue fruit kabobs. Easy and yummy. Score!

I picked up 2 things of strawberries, a large tub of blueberries, and a thing of bananas, along with some skewers. I guess the rest is pretty self-explanatory: you slice the strawberries and bananas, and alternate the fruit on the skewers.

But how do you keep the bananas from turning brown, you might ask? You soak them in orange juice right after slicing. It really works too.

Cute right? And everyone loved them...and were surprised that I was the one that made them.

Recipe: Homemade Guacamole

Don't fall out of your chairs or anything, but I have another "how-to" today. Yesterday, crafts; today, food. What's happened to me?

After having the best guac ever at a local Mexican restaurant, I decided I was going to make my own. Unfortunately, mine tasted nothing like what I had at the restaurant, but it was still pretty good. Let me preface this by saying that I am SUPER picky when it comes to guac (well, most foods actually). I just started eating it recently, so the fact that I even wanted to make it was huge.

I got this recipe from a friend of a friend, and it seemed easy enough, so I thought, "Why not?"

What you'll need: 3 ripe avocados, 1/2 lime, 1 can of Rotel, 1 packet of Guacamole mix

I cut the avocados in half, and then got out the middle with a spoon. It wasn't "mushing" very well with my fork, so I pulled out this chopper that had never been used so it would mash up. Don't you  just love my less-than-technical cooking terms?

After doing that, I added the Rotel, packet of mix, and squeezed the juice of half of a lime into the bowl. Mix it all up, refridgerate for awhile, and BAM! You're ready for some guacamole.

I took some of it to my parents since I wouldn't eat all of it, and they loved it.

Do you have a better guac recipe? If so, please share!

Engagement Gift

One of my very best friends got engaged a few weeks ago, Congratulations, Whitney!!!!!, and I wanted to do something to celebrate! I knew that this would happen soon, so I had already been on the lookout for a cute engagement gift.

I saw this one on Pinterest one afternoon and knew it would be perfect!

Isn't that the cutest gift idea ever? Problem was, I was a little limited on extra funds that month, so I only bought two of the items: the letter of her soon-to-be last name, and a wedding magazine. I tied some toile around them, made a bow, and signed a cute little card. Voila!

I'd like to have gotten a few more items to add to her gift, but I thought it still turned out cute! It wasn't much, but I hope she knows how happy and excited I am for her.

What do you think of the gift?

Prayers Please

Good morning, friends. I feel like I have so much to share with you guys, but today, I'm simply asking for prayers.

There's a pretty serious health situation going on with one special member of my family. We've all been pretty emotional and scared to death about it all weekend long. So I'm asking you, all of you, to please say a prayer that they will be ok, that God will heal, and that everything will be okay.

Thanks in advance. Have a great Monday!
