Trendy Blog Words

Trends are everywhere. I often fall victim to a few myself. However, trends usually end, and I think it's time to retire a few blog trendy words that I've seen way too much.

Le sigh.
Yes, it's cute, but enough already. Just this morning, I've seen it more times than I can count on one hand.

Amazeballs
For the only reason that it sounds ridiculous and it has balls in it.

Totes
Is it really that much harder to say totally?

Awesomesauce
I've said this so many times, but I'm tired of it. Over it. Unless you are referring to a bottle of sauce that is awesome (i.e. RANCH), then no.

True Dat
I have a friend that says this like it's their job, which makes me say it all the freaking time. I hate it.

The Golden Girls Funnies

If I had to pick one show to claim as my favorite, it would be The Golden Girls, hands down. I could watch it all day, every day. No joke. And if it's on tv, then that's when the channel surfing stops. Those women are just hilarious. Don't believe me? Take a look.

Hot Mess

I've finally come to terms with the fact that I am, in fact, crazy. I've always been emotional and let things get to me way too easily, but it's taken on a whole new meaning lately.

Yesterday, was insane. I cried, felt sorry for myself, and wallowed in self pity for a good while. Then last night, it's like I was hit in the head and the balloon holding all of my emotions burst. I cried for hours. Not just tears running down my face, but boo-hoo'd. So much so that my eyes are swollen and puffy this morning and my vision is a tad blurry. This honestly comes as no surprise, because I have a visitor (you know who I'm referring to) coming soon and it always makes me a mess. A hot mess.

So beware today. Maybe I should arm myself with some merchandise just so others will be warned beforehand.

I should wear this:

While drinking from this:

Or rather this:

But you know what makes me think I'm not alone? This:

A Bit Quirky

This morning as I was getting ready, I realized that I'm a bit quirky. I guess we all have a few things that others would find odd, but I think most everyone that knows me in real life wouldn't disagree with that description of me. Here's a few of mine.

Source: tumblr.com via Megan on Pinterest

1. I never use a full thing of deoderant or toothpaste..or some other random bottles/containers. I'm not sure why, but if I know it's getting close to the end, I'll toss it and open another. And I'm not like this with everything, just some things. I did this just this morning with my deoderant, which essentially led me to this post.

2. I pick at my food. All of it. But I especially have habits with certain foods. Like hot pockets for instance. I can't just eat them like a normal person would. Nope. I eat it with a fork first of all, which is odd. I eat the edges first. Then the top and bottom crust. Then the middle filling. Always. No exceptions.

3. I can't wear socks to bed. Just can't. I feel like they suffocate me. Oh, and because of this...

4. I only check my voicemail or open some apps to get the number notices off my phone. I don't care what it's for, I have to get them off immediately.

5. It's very rare that I listen to a song in it's entirety. If I do, it must be a damn good song that I'm singing along to, or I'm just  not paying attention to what's going on anyway.

6. I'm deathly afraid of mice, rats, and anything that resembles a rodent. I can't even watch them on tv or in a movie. And the noises. Ugh...I'm shivering now just thinking about it.

7. I don't like being late. If I'm right on time somewhere, I'm late. It's the whole feeling rushed thing. It bothers me.
8. Parents that let their little ones run around with snot either dried or running down their faces kill me. I know it's their child, but it completely grosses me out.

9. I have to have something to drink with me at all times. If not, I feel like I'm dying. Always in the car, at my desk, or on the end table at home. It's strange, but surprises no one when we stop to get a drink because "I'm just dying of thirst."

10. I hate talking on the phone. Unless I've had a bit too much to drink or I'm crushing on you, I hate it. Don't call me. Text me.

Do these make me a complete weirdo? What quirks do you have?

The Time I Felt Like A Mean Girl

You know how we all use Twitter as a sounding board? We comment on tv shows like it's our job, the people on them, and share our opinions. All of them. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

A twitter/blog friend called everyone out a few weeks ago when we were all sharing our negative opinions during The Grammys. It resonated with me for a time, but I must have forgotten that be nice mantra, because last night, it came back to bite me in the butt.

While watching Real Housewives and Vanderpump Rules, there were commercials for Dukes of Melrose. Lots of commercials for this new show. And I'm not excited about this show. Just doesn't seem like my cup of tea. So, I did what everyone else does. I posted it to Twitter.

And then this happened.
And I felt awful. So I tried making it better.

I felt bad about it. Honestly. Even though I have no idea who Cameron Silver is, I think I hurt his feelings, and that's never cool.

Last night, I felt like a mean girl. And it sucked.

Another Day

I had a post planned for today, but I feel terrible. I just don't have the energy to write it, so maybe you'll get it tomorrow. Let's hope I make it through the rest of the day. Counting down to 5 o'clock....

Hope you have a happy Monday.

Recipe: Mexican Tortilla Bake

Today, I'm sharing one of my favorite recipes: Mexican Tortilla Bake. I got this recipe years ago, and while I don't make it often, heck, I don't make anything often, I really love it.

Don't you dare judge me on my obviously non-professional food photos.

Ingredients
4-5 tortilla shells
1 pound hamburger
1 packet taco seasoning
1 small can of green chilis
1 can black beans- rinsed
sour cream- couple of tablespoons
1 pkg shredded cheese- I used sharp cheddar

Directions
1. Scramble hamburger, drain, then mix with taco seasoning.
2. In casserole dish (I use 8x8), place tortilla. Spread some sour cream on the top of the toritilla. (This keeps the tortillas soft when baking.)
3. Spread a layer of green chilis, then black beans, then meat, then cheese.
4. Before placing the next tortilla, spread sour cream on both sides of the tortilla.
5. Repeat layers until you reach the top of the dish.
6. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 min or until dish is hot all the way through.

Easy enough, right? Let me know if you try this recipe and what you think.

Picture Frame Fail and a Candy Jar

I finally have something to share with Katie and Stephanie today for Saw it, Pinned it, Did it. Finally.

I have two projects to share with you today, because one of them was a big fat failure.

First, I tried dressing up a picture frame with a burlap ribbon. I'd seen these super cute frames at boutiques for at least $30 bucks if not more. But I'm cheap, so I got a $7 frame and some $4 ribbon. How hard could it be, right?

  My mess
The burlap was a mess, the ribbon did  not do as it should have, and I just got frustrated and tossed it into the spare room. Done-zo.

I went back this morning, and tried a different "bow". What do you think? Too plain?

Since this didn't turn out, I was going to post my failure and say forget it to anything else. But remember these old candle jars?

I have three of them just sitting in my pantry, and one has been riding around in my car for a few days. While driving back to work, I decided I could fancy it up a bit and put it on my desk. So I did.

I really wanted to do this with white cups or bowls, but I used what I had.
 My jar.

It's hard to see, but there are gold polka dots on the sides.

And filled with candy, as if I need it.

So there ya have it. What do you use your old jars for?
