While most of these were in the news or on the big screen, I've honestly had a great 2012. I'm so excited to see what 2013 has to bring, and I just know it will be an awesome year too.

Happy New Year's Eve, readers. Hope you have a fabulous new year!

Christmas Re-Cap

This Christmas has quickly come and gone, and not to be a scrooge, but I'm happy the holidays are over. Yes, I like spending extra time with the fam, and giving and receiving gifts, but it is  SO stressfull. People are whack-a-doos, stores are crazy, and you know there are those family members that you just tolerate because you have to.

Even though I'm glad the holidays are over, I had such a good one. Christmas Eve began with breakfast at Shoney's, because my mother hates cooking. And since they found out Shoney's is open, we've been going there to deck the halls. We then went back to the mom/step-dad's house for gifts. It was extra special this year because it was Raelyn's first Christmas. Gosh, I love that kid. I never knew that I could love a little one so much.

I received far more gifts than I deserved. One of my favorites was the Happy Everything plate that I had been eyeing for forever.
When I was opening the attachment, Mom exclaimed, "That's the only one that reminded me of you."  2 wine glasses. Thanks, Mom? What is she implying???? Lol
Sister got me an owl attachment. Owls are always in my gift pile.

Ornaments are one of favorites to give and receive. I got two this year.
"To a very special aunt at Christmas" from a very special little girl, Raelyn.
My mother knows me so well.
My favorite gift was a sentimental one. My grandmother used to crochet like it was her job. She made little doilies all of the time. Mom had one framed for me, sister, cousin, and aunt. I absolutely love that I have something that I can keep that will remind me of her everytime I look at it. Granny is still with us, but she's had several strokes and not much of a memory anymore. I almost cried when I opened this and realized what it was. I love sentimental gifts.

Christmas Eve lunch was with my Nanny and dad. Then Christmas night was with the big Tracy family. My maternal grandparents had 6 kids, 14 grandkids, and multiple great-grandkids and even several great-great-grandkids. Everyone but 2 of the members made it to Christmas. To say it's a gathering is an understatement.

Santa Paws even came to leave little Mia with a gift. She still hasn't used it. It takes her awhile to use new things.
What was your favorite gift? Hope you all had a great one.

The # Up Top

You know what number I'm referring to.

Followers.

Whether it's on Twitter or Blogger, I look at it every single time I log in. Habit, I guess.

And when it goes up, I do a little happy dance.

But when it goes down, I honestly get a little sad. Is what I'm saying boring? Annoying? Irrelevent? Why did they go through the trouble of unfollowing?

If you say it doesn't matter, you are probably right. It doesn't.

But do I care? Yes. I do. And you know you do too. This is your little part of the internet where you put yourself out there. And when people unfollow it's like they are telling you they don't like you or what you have to say.

And that makes me a little sad.

Hat Fun

I'm quite the goofy gal; I love to laugh. Even if it's at myself.

I'm also quite smitten with fun caps and hats and anything that goes on your head. While I never actually wear them (unless it's while walking around Target), I love trying them on. I always want to buy them, and the sillier the better.

So while I was out shopping last night and taking advantages of the holiday  hours, I had some fun in the hat department. I may or may not have embarrassed my shopping buddy, but that's part of the fun too, right?

This one was SO CLOSE to coming home with me. I'm glad I passed.
As ridiculous as this one is, I LOVE it. I may go back to purchase. How fun!

Instantly French and artsy. Oui oui?

Which is your favorite? Or which do you hate the most? It's all a matter of opinion.

Last Minute Gift Ideas

Christmas is next week, you guys. And if you are anything like my friends (but not me, mine was finished by Dec. 1st), you still have some Christmas shopping left to do. Am I right?

And by waiting this long, I'm going to guess that what you are looking for is gone. They don't have the size, or the color, or if you are really unfortunate, the item is not to be found period.

This is where I come in. I've thought up a few last minute gift ideas for ya. You'll thank me for this. I'm sure of it. ;)

Hot Stone Massage
I don't know one lady that wouldn't absolutely LOVE to be pampered.
And hot stones are the best. Swear.

TV on DVD
I love getting these for Christmas! Everyone has a favorite tv show, so let them enjoy it long after it's gone off the air.

Gift Cards
I'm always on the fence about these things. I feel guilty giving them, but I really really like receiving them. It gives me the option to buy exactly what I want. It's like free money! Give one to their favorite restaurant, store, or even places like Paypal or Amazon and the options are limitless.

Favorite Book
Giving a copy of your favorite book with an inscription inside is something I would love to receive from a friend. Or even a book that you know they've been wanting to read. I also love give coffee table books.
My favorite love story.

 Note cards & Pens
Handwritten notes are the best things to receive. And instead of buying them myself, I love getting a package of note cards with some pens as a gift. It's thoughtful, can be inexpensive, and they have such cute card designs in the stores.

Just because you waited until the last minute to buy a gift doesn't mean it has to suck. Be creative. Think about the person you are buying for and make it personal. The options are endless.

 I can't focus.

On anything.

Blogs have gone uread. Posts have not been written. I pack my Nook back and forth from work to home, and it hasn't been turned on once.

I get bored so easily.

Maybe Monday I can get my head into the game.

Until then.....

Pinterest Recipe: Cheesy Bacon Fries

It's time to share a Pinterest recipe I tried, and to link up with two ladies I adore, Stephanie and Katie for Saw it. Pinned it. Did it.

As soon as I saw these Cheesy Potato Fries, I knew I had to try them. I'm a sucker for anything potato. And topped with cheese? Seriously. I was for sure doing these.

Original Pin:

And my final product:

Recipe (copied from original post here):
Fries:
4-6 Potatoes
1/4 cup olive oil
Sea Salt, Fresh ground pepper, your favorite seasoning salt

Sour Cream/Ranch Sauce:
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup ranch dressing
1/4 cup milk

Toppings:
1 cup (or as much as you like) Shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup real bacon bits
1/4 cup green onions (I left these off. Yuck)

Instructions
Cut potatoes into "steak french fries" size.
{I like them thicker...but that means it will also take a little longer to cook than skinny ones.}
Place on foiled baking sheet.
Drizzle with olive oil and lightly toss with tongs.
Sprinkle salts and pepper over the potatoes.

Bake 400 for 40 minutes or until fork tender.
In seperate bowl mix:
sour cream, ranch dressing and milk.

On a separate platter smooth out 3/4 of the sour cream sauce.
Place hot potatoes on sour cream sauce.
Drizzle remaining sour cream sauce on potatoes
Sprinkle toppings.
Place under broiler for a few seconds to re-melt cheese.
It's going to be messy and delicious.

The recipe is right, these were really good! Let me know if you make these; I'd love to know what you think!

Thanks To Blogging

I've been introduced to a lot of things through blogging. And while some I may have known about before, I can definitely blame my having one  on my fellow bloggers. Yep. I'm throwing you all under the bus and blaming you for introducing these things to me.

In no particular order....

Erin Condren Life Planners
I did it. I caved. But rest assured, I did not shell out the $50. Heck no. I waited until I saw a $25 card for $50 worth of merchandise at EC. So I did it. While it is nice, definitely not worth the $50 and it's too big for me to carry around daily.

Jewelry Nut Auctions
It's like eBay but with a set price and multiple items. You get so caught up into seeing an item you like and before you know it, you have a whole jewelry box full of costume jewelry. There for a few weeks, my extra money was going straight to JNA. It was sad, really.

Pinterest
I can't remember a time without this nifty little website, but it was there. What would we do without it?

Toms
These ugly shoes took awhile to get into my closet, but now, I have several. They are SO comfy and honestly go with almost everything.

Birchbox
$10 a month to get a box of goodies? It's really not a bad deal. And honestly, I think almost every month, I've gotten a full size product in the box.

50 Shades of Grey
Holy moses, am I ever glad that you all introduced me to this entertaining book. I'm not going to pretend it's a great literary accomplishment, but remember I said entertaining!

Bubble Necklaces
I still don't think these look right on me, but I have three: a yellow, black, and mini red one.

Frye boots
Riding boots are all the rage, and if you've even glanced at this blog, you know I have my trouble with finding boots. I ordered the Frye, but they didn't work either. Poop. And to think I actually splurged on the $370 boots.

Maybooks
With my knack for following trends, I jumped on this bandwagon this year, and bought a Maybook. They are considerably cheaper, monogrammed, and they are against ugly notebooks. Win, win, win!

Twitter (follow me here)
I had an account, but didn't use it much until I started conversing with my new blog friends. Which leads to...

Blog Friends
I still remember the girls that befriended me at the beginning of this whole journey. The blog world can be tough...it's kind of like a clique in high school. But rest assured, the good girls far outweigh the mean ones. And for them, I am thankful.

What do you have or have you done thanks to blogging? Please let me know what I'm missing!
