Dear Self

Dear Self,
You just ordered yourself an expensive pair of boots yesterday.

You have a closet full of shoes (many that you don't wear, I might add). Do you really think you need another pair of boots.

Did you forget that you have trouble with them fitting? Do you know these will fit? No, you don't.

I know what you are saying, "but these are SO cute. I could wear them with everything." But you say that about everything.

Self, you really must get this shopping under control.

Sincerely,

Bye Bye Money, Hello Loves

I've been on the hunt for a few items lately, but to no avail, have had no luck....until today!

The first item on my list was a planner. I did the Erin Condren Life Planner this year, and while nice, it is just way too big for what I need. It's big, heavy, thick....just didn't work for me. I just need a planner that's cute, personalized, and would fit in my purse easily. You've probably seen Maybooks around for awhile, but I still didn't want to pay $26 (for the book plus shipping). Until today, that is. Tara (@fabulousbutevil) tweeted about getting the book for half off today. So naturally, I just had to buy one.

I finally decided on this pattern. I actually spent tons of time playing around with the designs and it was between this one and the zebra one. This one had more votes, so it made it's way into my cart, $10 was taken off, and now it's being made especially for me!

The next item I've been searching for for over two years. Two very long years. Do you know how hard it is to find riding boots to fit larger calves. Impossible I tell you. Impossible. I've been in love with Frye boots for the longest time, but refused to spend the $348 that was on the price tag. Until I unexpectedly received a check in the mail. I bit the bullet, and ordered those suckers just minutes ago.
Aren't they gorgeous???
I read and re-read the reviews for these, and everyone says that the size I ordered should work for my calf circumference. You all better pray that they fit, or you'll probably hear my screams from your humble abode. They are returnable, but still.....I want some boots, by golly!

And can I just say how helpful my fabulous, wonderful, shoe-obsessed friend, Molly is? I've tweeted this girl to death about boot questions the past few weeks, and she comes through every single time. And before boots it was Jewelry Nut Auction talk. Thanks so much for all of your help, friend!

What do you think? Do you love these items as much as I do?

So what

So What Wednesday

So what if...
-I haven't had McDonalds (or any other burger and fries) for two weeks. While sometimes I find myself wanting a yummy Big Mac, I'm refraining. I can do it!

-I don't think Chickfila is fast food. It just doesn't count right?

-I'm finished Christmas shopping and am a little sad about it. I like to buy for other people. So sue me.

-I think I honestly have a slight shopping problem.

-I can't find the perfect Christmas tree and have everything else decorated, but still no tree. Where are you, tree?

-I could drink regular old Cokes all day, everyday. But I don't. I'm trying to not drink sodas and stick with water. It's hard, y'all.

-I'm a twitter addict. There. I said it.

-I'm reading Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, and I don't love it. While it may have some good, insightful info, I hate the tone and style in which it's written.

And that is all, my friends. Happy hump day!

Winning

Yep. That's me. Or what I'm doing rather. I'm winning.

A necklace, that is.

If you follow me on twitter, you must see that I enter every giveaway I can. I'm all about getting some free fabulous goodies! So you  better believe I was over the moon excited when Lisa from Peridot Skys announced me as the winner of the Aziza Jewelry necklace giveaway. Winning a giveaway is much like winning the lottery, I would assume. A squeal of glee and jumping up and down in my seat may have happened when I read that I won.

I decided to get my name on the necklace when personalizing it. And it came in the mail last week. Imagine my excitement when I opened the package, and I saw my name in the twisted silver metal.

Thanks, Lisa and Aziza! I can't wait to wear it!

A whole post dedicated to hot chocolate. Kind of.

I went shopping yesterday. Shocking, I know. ;)

The friend I was with wanted to go into Bath and Body Works for some candles. Well, I thought I would see if they had gotten in my all-time favorite candle in the whole wide world: Hot Chocolate.

I didn't see it, so I asked the not-so-friendly heifer stocking the candle shelves. Do you know what she had the nerve to say?

"It's not coming back this year."

Whaaa???? That bitch. Did I mention it's my favorite candle, and I bought multiple last year? Apparently, that doesn't matter to the fine folks at B&BW. So in a huff, I started smelling all of the other candles that I wouldn't be buying. Until, I ran across this bad boy.

While it isn't my Hot Chocolate, it is pretty darn close. So I took advantage of the 2/$20 and bought two. Of the same scent.

And while I'm on the topic of this place, I've been on the hunt for this candle holder for ages. Or months. Whatever.

I saw it online months ago, and knew I needed it for my Hot Chocolate candle that would come out this winter. My store never got it in though. Boo. Now it's not on the store website, but a search for the picture led me to eBay. Good ole eBay.

Also, while waiting for Whit to buy her shiz, I meandered over to the Taylor Swift table. There's a new scent out called Forever Red. And while the lotion has no smell to it whatsoever, the body spray smells amazing. I want it. Add it to my Christmas list, will ya?

And for the record, after smelling everything, I looked for her picture on the display. Wasn't there. Apparently, she has nothing to do with it. Why does everything red remind me of her now? Tramp.

Who knew I could write an entire post about Bath and Body Works? Oh well. I was feeling extra sassy today.

Crockpot Chicken & Dumplings

With the cold weather finally here, I have been craving hot, feel-good meals. I hadn't made this dish in awhile, so it was an easy choice, especially since it was SO easy to make.

My sister introduced me to this recipe that she'd found in a book of recipes just for crockpots. I  don't know the name of the book, or I would reference it here. Oops. And I couldn't find my copy of the recipe, so I just used what I remembered. Whether this is the original or not, it was yummy!

Note: I was only making this for myself, so this makes a small batch.
Serves probably 4.

Crockpot Chicken and Dumplings

Ingredients:
-boneless chicken breasts
-1 can cream of chicken soup
-1/2 can chicken broth
-1 can biscuits
-salt and pepper to season

Directions:
1. Put chicken in bottom of crockpot.
(I could only find tenderloin that was boneless, and it actually worked better in my opinion. Use half of package.
2. Pour cream of chicken soup over chicken.
3. Pour 1/2 of can over soup.
4. Salt and pepper to season.
 5. Set crockpot on low and cook for 4 hours.
 6. Cut biscuits into quarters.
7. Drop into crockpot and stir.
8. Let cook for appx. 30 minutes or until biscuits are done.

I paired my chicken and dumplings with some green beans, and I have to be honest, the meal was delicious. Even if I didn't follow the recipe, and I cooked it myself.

Seriously, this is the easiest meal ever. You must try it.
And if you do, you must let me know how you liked it.

Technically, I didn't see this on pinterest (like I originally thought I did), but I'm pinning it. Does that count, Stephanie and Katie? ;)

So What Wednesday

So What Wednesday

So what if...
  • my favorite thing to wear is leggings and an oversized sweatshirt. It's comfy.
  • I feel skanky in tennis shoes. I can't help it. I do.
  • I desperately want to take classes. For what, I don't know. But I miss school.
  • I'd rather sit inside and watch Netflix lately. It's what happens when you're moody and sad.
  • I cried a little bit in the middle of Buffalo Wild Wings Saturday night.  You tell an emotional story and you are going to get a bit emotional. Duh.
  • I'm obsessing a little too much about finding a planner. I want a May Books calendar, but spending $26 bucks is just a little crazy. I mean I spent that on my Erin Condren planner last year (thanks to a coupon), and barely use it because it's so big. How about a nice $10 one?
  • my fuggs (faux uggs) are ready to be thrown out again. I love wearing them when it's super cold or snowy outside. And according to my twitter friends, I should replace them.  Should I go on and spend the money to get real Uggs or just get some really good ones without the Ugg tag on the back. Does that brand stitched on the heel really matter?
  • I fell asleep during half time of the UK/Duke game last night. I was tired, ok? Super tired, apparently.
Happy Hump Day, kids. Make the most of it!

PostSecret Event

Secrets. We all have them, but are you willing to share? What if you could do it anonymously? PostSecret is a way to do that. Have you heard of this project?

PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. (description from the website)

Frank Warren, the brains behind this project, handed out 3000 postcards 6 or so years ago in Washington DC. These postcards had instructions to  write a secret on the postcard and send them back to him anonymously. Those 3,000 secrets have turned into millions that are sent to Frank's home from all over the world.

Those postcards have been compiled into books, listed on the website every Sunday, and even a play is in the works. And it's all just a bunch of secrets.

Last night, Frank visited Western Kentucky University. I've been wanting to attend an event for years, but every time he was remotely close, something kept me from going. But not this time. I was going through hell or high water to be there. And I made it.

I listened to him talk about how PostSecret started. About secrets that didn't make it into the book. About his own secrets. Secrets that have touched him the most. And those in attendance shared secrets. I wish I had been brave enough to share a secret, but maybe I can send one in. One day.

I also got to meet Frank, and have him sign my copy of the original PostSecret book. I was so dang excited. And if that makes me a nerd, then I'm a nerd. But that's ok.

If you haven't been introduced to PostSecret, you must check it out immediately- buy a book or visit the website.

What secret would you share?

Blogger Issues

I had a blog post ready for you guys, full of pictures.

But when I tried to publish, the format was completely whack-a-doodled out. Mostly due to the fact that pictures on here have been messed up for weeks, like not showing up when typing and such.

Seriously, blogger. Get it together. K?

Friday Letters

Photobucket

Dear heart, please put yourself back together again. Quickly.

Dear WKU, I hope to see you for the first time (at your final game) of the season. I'm sad I haven't been to see you, but know I've missed you.

Dear Sister and Whit, Thank you SO very much for letting me cry and vent to you the past few weeks. But especially thank you for understanding. I know it gets old, but it does make me feel better to talk. Know that your being there does not go unnoticed, and I appreciate it so very much.

Dear Postsecret, I can't wait to attend your event on campus. It says students have first dibs, but I best get a seat in there. I'm a former student...twice! I'll be pissed if I'm not in there hearing all of the dirty secrets. K?

Dear boxes in my garage, Can you just unpack yourselves? You've been there for weeks. I obviously can't seem to find a place for you, but can't get rid of you either. maybe just disappear? Anything to be gone.

Happy Friday, lovelies! Who are your letters to?

Pinterest Project: Penny Letters

I did it again. Another pinterest project checked off of my list. And I'm linking up with two of my favorite bloggers to share: Katie and Stephanie.

I saw this pin, and I knew I had to do it. Apparently I liked it so much, that I'd pinned it 3 or 4 times. Where's the notification that I've pinned already, Pinterest????

Here's the inpiration pin:

My product:

Materials: cardboard letters, copper paint, paintbrush, (strong) glue, pennies

The steps are pretty much common sense. Paint the letters. Let dry. Glue on pennies. Let dry. Hang up. And voila! Done.

Almost finished! Putting the last layer on the letters.
Do you like the single layer or double?

And here they are.

My kitchen/walls obviously aren't as pretty as the original pin, but it's a rental, whaddyagonnado? I think the letters turned out pretty well. Not sure if I'm going to leave them here. I may put them on top of the cabinets.

What do you think?

House Bombing...kind of

Y'all. I just bombed my house. No no, not the dynamite kind of bomb that destroys everything.

The fogger kind that destroys fleas.

Yep, somehow, my little 2 pound dog got fleas for the first time in her 5 (or 35) years of life. And I'm disgusted. Like absolutely grossed out by these little bugs. Ewww.

I found them last night when I was checking the poor girl for her dry skin. And there it was...a tiny little brown thing with legs scurrying around. And then there was another. And another. And ever since then my head and skin has been itching thinking about bugs everywhere. I immediately gave her a bath, and as soon as the vet opened this morning, I was there to buy some flea stuff to kill the ones on her and a can of some fogger bomb stuff for the house. I hightailed it home, put the medicine on Mia, vacuumed the carpet, threw the bedding in the washing machine (and Mia's in the trash), set off the bomb and took Mia to the parentals for the day.

When I get home, those little beasts better be gone. Otherwise, I'm moving.

So thank you, former renters with the dogs, or next door neighbor pet that poops in my yard, for giving my sweet little furball fleas. You are not forgiven.

Today, I....

I voted.

I watched two episodes of Hart of Dixie. Yep, another show I'm obsessed with thanks to Netflix.

I ate lunch with my sister. Thanks for bringing it to me, sis!

I got to play with my neice, Raelyn. Cutest little thing I've ever seen.

I rolled my eyes at endless amounts of repetitive facebook posts.

I also scrolled quickly through those posts and tweets of people that are so hardcore left or right that they can't see a common middle ground. Or take a joke.

I ate leftover Halloween candy just to stay awake. Sugar rush, please!

I silently begged to go home and put on my comfies and lounge in from of the fire place.

I prayed.

I thought about what tv show I should become hooked on next. The list is getting long, y'all. Again, thank you Netflix.

I've been thankful that I've met some pretty awesome ladies through social media.

What have you done today?
