So What Wednesday

So What Wednesday
 So what if...

...Even though I love all of the happy birthdays I am getting today, I still kind of want to skip this day. It's just not as fun when you're old.

...I do love the attention though. Each and every wish puts a smile on my face.

...I have a wishlist a mile long.

...I'm going to share more of what I want in hopes they may show up on my doorstep.
Tell me this isn't just adorable.

I have these in turquoise and they are my favorite!

I die for this bag. Don't you think I should treat myself to it? Don't you?

Love this, but not the $36 tag on it.

...I feel like I need to go on a shopping spree. Asap.

...my blogging mojo is gone. Sometimes I wonder why I keep writing.

...I broke down and sponsored a blog. She's one of my faves, and maybe it will get me back in the blogging groove.

...I'm hanging on to hope. You never know what may happen.

Happy Halloween, friends.

So What

So What Wednesday

So what if...

I went to Lowes yesterday to get a fireplace/tv stand combo, and ended up getting a different one. It's bigger and was more expensive (go figure), but I loved it, and took the plunge. I really hope it works in the space.
I bought this to try. They say it's good, so by golly it better be.

I'm not impressed with my damn dvr. I've tried recording different shows since Sunday, and only half have recorded. To say that I'm ticked is putting it mildly.

I downloaded 2 more songs from Taylor Swift's new album. I can't help it. They are so gosh darn catchy. I'm in love with "Red," and "I Almost Do" was one I couldn't pass up.

I'm hating this indian summer we are having. It's fall, and I have new boots and sweaters to wear. I may be the only person on the planet feeling like this, but get it together fall!

I bought two pairs of boots last week. They finally came in, and I LOVE the booties. However, I'm not sure about the taller ones. They are more like a mid-calf. Thoughts?

If I'm going to plug my giveaway. It's so stinking cute, and I know you want to enter. Right?

Happy hump day, friends!

Furniture Shopping

You know what is difficult? Finding furniture.

I've been on the search for a tv stand with matching end tables and a coffee table. It's near impossible to do. And if I happen to find a whole set it's either uglier than sin or more expensive than the Mona Lisa.

I really only need a tv stand. I have end tables that were given to me, but they are oak. I don't like oak. Especially the oak that was popular in the 90s. And if I buy to match, I'd have to buy oak. But why buy when I don't like it? Doesn't it make more sense to get what I want?

So I find a few pieces here and there. And only one of them has the matching LR furniture. What to do? What to do?

Here are a few pieces I like. What do you think?

I'm 99% sure of which one I'm getting. Which do you think it is? Which would you get?

Don't forget to enter to win my final giveaway of the month.
Have a great day! :)

Antique Window Shopping

Antiques. To be honest, they aren't really my thing. I'd much rather have something nice, shiney, and new. So when a friend of mine asked if I wanted to visit some shops in search of something, I was hesitant that I would enjoy it, but I went. I mean I am a good friend and all.

Guys. No joke, I had SO much fun. While I didn't want to buy much, just looking at all of the old things was so dang neat. Imagining the history and where each item had been was interesting. And of course, I had to take pics. Here are a few items that I thought were just neat.

I love milk bottles and this one was huge. Like sit in the floor and come up to my knee huge.

I'm not sure what this is exactly, but it's a large glass bottle in a crate. Anyone know what it may have been used for?

I'm obsessed with claw-foot tables. The design is so pretty.

But I'm going to be honest. The claw absolutely creeps me out. Ewww. The ball is neat, but please take away the claw.

Miniature punch bowl set. Adorable.

This is a cooler. Pretty neat because you don't see them like this anymore.

Old sled. My mom purchased one for her front porch at Christmas, so this  jumped out at me. However at a price of $245, I ran screaming.

Wouldn't this be perfect in a nautical themed room?

I will buy an old checkerboard. Love them.

Sweet little denim romper. Precious.

Copper table.
I fell in love with this piece and couldn't bring myself to walk away from it. I danced around it for a good 5-10 minutes before finally biting the bullet and taking it with me. Where would I put it? Was $70 (with 20% off) too much?

But look at the color. And the twisted detail. I just couldn't help myself.

Upon getting it home, I happened to notice it had a plastic tag (that the price tag had been attached to), and a "made in china" sticker on the bottom. Oops. Looks like my pretty antique find wasn't so antique after all.

Do you like antiquing? How do you mix it with more modern stuff and it look right?

Dear Friday...

Well, hello, Friday! I am so excited to see you! And since you are here, it's time for my letters. I'm feeling extra sassy today, so you all be ready.

Dear men at my work: Just because I'm a gal doesn't mean you can talk to me rudely. Or treat me like I do nothing, and then SAY it. Let's see how long you last behind this desk dealing with the rude,  nasty, disgusting, entitled public.

AND let's use our noggins, shall we? If you are talking SO loudly that I have to move offices to hear someone on the phone, do NOT come in there to answer the phone and talk just as loudly as you were talking before. I moved for a reason.

Dear Mom: Thanks for my bowl of cookies this morning. These are my absolute favorite cookies in the whole wide world, and you came through with my own bowl. :)

Dear Ady: You honestly have no idea how excited I am to win this gorgeous clutch from you today! 1. You must know my obsession with clutches. 2. I'm a sucker for anything glitter, bedazzled, and shiny. 3. I never win anything, and am SO glad my efforts at entering every giveaway known to man has paid off.

Dear Target: You get me every time. How sad is it that I visit you at least once a week, if not Tuesday and Thursday afternoons after my session. And sometimes on Saturday. And how sad is it that a friend of mine always asks if I'm going or have been to Target when I leave BG. I just can't help myself.

Dear Tweeters: If this is your profile pic, I don't trust you. Sorry. I just don't. Change that shit.

Dear Bardstown: I'm sorry I won't be visiting you tomorrow. I had my heart set on it this year. But move, I must. I mean I have to take advantage of the help when I get it, right? But don't fret. I promise I'm going next year. If I remember, that is.

Dear apartment: You should know that I've had a lot of anxiety about you lately. A lot. But I know this is a smart move. And they keep telling me that once I'm settled and make it "mine", that I will love you. So I'm betting on that. Please be kind to me.

Dear reader: Happy Friday, love muffins. Make the weekend a good one!

Thankful Thursday

Let me just be honest here. I've had a rough  past few days. I admit, I'm the most emotional person I know. But that's not my focus today, promise.

I was reading through Blogger just now, and one of my favorite ladies on my list posted her weekly Thankful Thursday post. It's like I was meant to see this. While I've had some crazy  moments this week, what better time to remember this than right now. Today. Because while I may be over-stressing about things, I still have many many things to be thankful for!

I found a place that I wanted. It's exactly what I wanted.

I have family and friends that are offering to help me whenever they can.

I have boxes and boxes of things to move. What? You may be thinking to yourself. I'm thankful because it means I have stuff to move.

I have a job. Two jobs, actually.

I have a car that gets me where I need to be.

I have a dog that greets me excitedly when I walk in the door and is always by my side.

I have friends, blog friends, that I've never even met that I know I can count on to lift me up with a prayer or kind word.

So, while I may cry, have anxiety, and get flustered on things that I'm not happy with or that I stress about, I need to sit back and remember all that I do have. I think it's tough for us, all of us, especially me, to focus on that part. But I need to remember-

Happy Thursday!

A few randoms....

I'm SO excited about the response from my necklace giveaway. This is already my most popular giveaway, and we are only on day 2!

You have until Monday to enter, so get to it!
a Rafflecopter giveaway

Brunch with Amber is also having a giveaway for one of the super popular Maybooks. I'm going to be honest though, I hope you don't enter because I really really really want to win one of these things. Like really.

In other news, I must be getting allergies or have some sinus issues or something going on; my eyes are super puffy this morning, and they hurt, and it's kind of hard to see. Someone mentioned pink eye, and please baby Jesus, don't let it be that. That just grosses me out. So I hope that ends soon. Could be the fact that I had some twisted dreams last night and didn't rest well.

I've also been in serious Christmas shopping idea mode. I've only purchased a few items, but I've been scouring the internet and deal sites looking for the perfect gifts for my family. It's always so hard to find something that isn't boring or generic (like gift cards...which I love receiving, so I'm not sure why I hate giving them). Where do you find gift-giving inspiration?

If you follow me on twitter (@melanie_ks), let me just send out my apologies. I get in chatty moods and my go-to release for that is Twitter. So I may or may not be blowing up your feed. My suggestion? Reply so I can have a purpose for those random tweets. ;)

I think that's enough randomness for now. Happy Tuesday, folks.

Friday Letters & Giveaway

Dear Friday: I've never been so glad to see you. It's been a super long week, and I need a break. Thank you.

Dear Friends: I get sad and my feelings get hurt when you don't talk to me. It's true. Maybe you are busy. Maybe you just don't want to chat. Maybe you're just over my sarcasm or drama. But I can't help it, I feel lousy when it happens.

Dear Stress: I really think you will decrease drastically now. Thank you, Jesus! It was almost becoming too much.

Dear Readers: Lucky you! You still have a chance to enter to win this clutch. And guess what? If you come back Monday, you'll have a chance to win something else. Holla!

Happy Friday! :)

Great News!!

I have great news, and I knew I just had to share it with you all. After months on the market, my house has finally sold.

Officially.

I met the buyers at the bank this morning, signed the paperwork, and picked up my check.

I'm so excited for this move. As my friend said, I'm ready for the next chapter in the book of Melanie.

Happy Thursday! :)
