InStyle's On My Mind

Possibly my favorite part of the magazine is the very last page. Why? They always have the best features; Q&A's with people, Do's and Don'ts, Fill-In-The-Blanks. It's a great idea for blogging too!

In the February 2012 issue of InStyle, the last page is called "On My Mind" and has a phrase for the celeb to finish. I always need some different blogging ideas, so I'm going to answer these about me! Here goes.

I never leave home without ... chapstick and a hair elastic. A must.

I'm totally sucked into... shows made for teens. Glee, Pretty Little Liars, One Tree Hill. It's like an addiction.

Fans People always ask about my... curly hair. Is it natural or a perm? Well, random people, it's 2012, so no, it's not a perm. And would I really do this to myself on purpose? Hell to the no.

Nobody knows that... I feel like a failure. 6 years of school and 2 degrees later, I only taught for 3.5 years. Failure!

My fashion fetish is... currently is leggings. If I had enough tunics, long sweaters, etc., I would wear them every single day. I wear them to sleep in, and don't want to take them off in the mornings.

I get emotional when... I think about being lonely. What if I never find anyone? What if I'm alone every single day for the rest of my life?

Feel free to use these if you need a post idea! Make sure you let me know if you do, though, so I can read your answers!

Makeup Questions For You

I need your help. Yes, YOU! I posted my makeup and skin care routine last night, but I need some of your opinions. You see, I'm not extremely satisfied with some of what I have going on in the makeup department. That's where you come in. I need your answers to these questions, and it's just your opinion. Easy, right? So get to answering. Please and thank you!

What foundation do you use? Are you happy with it?

Do you think the main foundation (liquid, etc.) is more important than the powder or vice versa?

What mascara is amazing? My wittle washes need all kinds of help!

What do you think are the items worth investing in?

What do you feel you can skimp on?

What suggestions do you have for me?

Funnies on Friday

Hallelujah, y'all, it's Friday! I thought I'd end the week with some laughs that I've found on Pinterest.

I have this allergy a lot!
Do you know Bennett? Oh my word, you must check him out. Go here!

Gotta love the girls.

This is so true!

So is this one....totally true!

Did this yesterday afternoon after a crazy customer left.

Oh...so that's the issue?!

And finally, my favorite girl, Tray-say.

Have a great weekend, lovelies! :)

Please say a prayer

My family could sure use some extra prayers today. I've not shared with you what this is in reference to, and I'm just not ready yet, but God knows our sorrows and our worries. He knows this situation, so I pray to him to give us closure. To answer our prayers and to make the guilty pay. To be with my aunt and cousin as they deal with this situation.

So What

So what if I've been in bed by 9 every single night this week, and asleep by 10 or 1030. I was asleep by 830 the night before last. I've slept sooo good this week!

So what if I want to stay at home in sweats all day long on Sundays. Most Sundays, I don't get to do it, but it's a nice thought.

So what if I knew I'd be disappointed by a book (by a celeb), but bought it anyway. I guess I just had to find out for myself. These women are so funny on tv, but the books are just ho-hum-drum.

So what if I talk to and find myself to have more in common with bloggy and twitter friends. You gals are awesome! I wish you lived closer so we could be IRL friends.

So what if I wanted to cry yesterday when I took Mia to the vet to find out she had a huge scratch on her eye. She's my baby, and it kills me when she is hurt (which happens so often with her).

I heart Tattoos

I'm linking up with Raven today to share my tattoos.
A Mommas Desires and Pacifiers

If you knew me, you'd know that I certainly don't look like the "tattoo type." I'm sure when the tattoo artist see me coming, they are wondering what the hell I'm doing on their lot. Despite my goody-two-shoes look, I love tattoos. Yes, I believe there is a fine line between classy and trashy when it comes to them, but I still love them. They are so addicting! My tattoos are small and girly, but bygolly, they are still tats. Ink people. I'm tough!

Without further adeiu, here are my tattoos....(eek that rhymed! I'm a poet and didn't know it!)Sorry for the grainy and foggy photos. I had to take them with my phone this morning in a rush.

#1. Heart
I got this one when I was like 23. I was so scared! I wanted something super simple and on the inside of my foot. My mom and sister went back the next week to get the same tattoo, so we all have matching ones, which I think is neat.

#2. Tramp Stamp
I'm not sure where this one came from.We were having girls night at my house, and I jumped up and said, "I want another tattoo." Three of us went under the knife needle that night. I had a sheet of fake tattoos (I'd had them since 8th grade. I have always wanted one....), and I kept going back to this design. Where else to put it when you are 24 than on your lower back.
This is the only one I regret. It looks nothing like the picture I gave them. Really disappointed with this one, but it's there...and at least it's hidden.

#3. M is for Marvelous, Magnificent

Another night with another set of girls led to this tattoo. We'd been talking about getting our initials, so on the foot they went. This one is my absolute favorite. The bottom loop of the M is faded, and I need to get that taken care of asap.

#4. Cross
I'd been wanting a tattoo on my wrist for some time, but it just would not be acceptable in the teaching field. So, when I decided to stay at my Dad's company that I would go for it. While in BG, I decided to take the leap. I love that this one isn't centered, but is on the side more. It's still scabbed over, but it's not really as "sharp" as I'd like for it to be. I think I wanted sharper corners instead of looking like a marker. What do you think?

With all of my tattoos, it was kind of sudden. I would look for about 2 days and then do it (but thinking about it for quite some time). I'm also super scared of needles. Like I get nauseous just thinking about them, so I think it's weird that I've had 4.

Do you have tattoos? What do you think of mine?

Snowed In

While we did get some snow and lots of slick roads last night, I didn't get a snow day like most people I know. I don't even get to call in for bad weather; I work for my dad and he will just come get me. :/

So I technically wasn't snowed in last night, but I wanted to feel like it. I stopped and got a pizza, changed into some comfies, turned on the fireplace and popped in some movies I rented yesterday at lunch. It was so nice!

Since I get a lot of ideas on books, movies, etc. from reading other blogs, I thought I would fill you in on my thoughts of the movies I rented.

The first was Moneyball with Brad Pitt.
I thought since old Mr. Sexy was in it then it would be pretty good. Wrong! You pretty much have to be a baseball person to enjoy this. It's all numbers and money, and it was boring. I will admit that Jonah Hill did a great job of playing the money guy, but the story was not very good, to me anyway. I also thought that since the movie had gotten so much media buzz, it would be good. Note to self- Melanie, you never enjoy these type movies. Don't feed into it.

The second movie I rented was What's Your Number?

I'm usually not a fan of Anna Faris. She always plays the dumb character and she normally just gets on my nerves. However, I'm a sucker for rom-coms, and this fell right into my love for cheesy girl movies. It was funny. The guy was hot. And of course there was a fairy tale ending. Definitely a good one for a night in.

Have you seen any movies lately that you would recommend? Please fill me in!

It's Ok

It's ok if I use my blog to vent about whatever is going on. I mean it's my blog, right?

It's ok if I don't want to be friends with someone anymore. I'm an adult. If the person is not a positive person, they shouldn't be in my life anway, bringing me down.

And it's totally ok if I feel that way and don't feel guilty about it.

It's ok that I'm addicted to twitter and blow it up with random tweets.  Isn't that what twitter is for?

It's ok that I've been visiting Hobby Lobby every single time I'm in BG so I can craft. Thanks, Pinterest....for making me spend money regularly on making things.

What are you OK with today?

BIC

Can I be honest?

I HATE the name Blue Ivy.

What the hell were these two thinking? I absolutely love JayZ and BK, but Blue Ivy?

If everyone starts naming their kid Blue, well, I'll just shoot myself.

Or maybe not. But I'll hate it too.

Public Etiquette

I'm linking up today because I feel like I MUST go over some proper etiquette for dealing with the dumbass public. Excuse the language, but I have just been SO frustrated with how rude and clueless some people are! Read on, if you dare!

1. If someone asks you  how you are doing, asks about life, ect., it's polite to return the favor and ask about them. When you say fine and end the conversation, it's rude. Even if you don't care, be nice and ask anyway.

2. On the other hand, if someone asks how you are doing, don't go into a ten minute lecture about what's wrong with your life and why you are  miserable. Unless it's a best friend or someone you normally confide it, most people don't care and are just asking to be polite. If it's the worst day of your life, lie and say fine.

3. If you go into an office, don't go around the desk or just walk into offices. It's extremely rude. There is a desk for a reason. Stay in front of it. Personal space, people! Stay out of my bubble! Also, don't move the stuff on my desk so you have room to set your purse or folders on. I have stuff where I want it. Also, don't just pick up my stuff to look at it. It's my desk, not a free for all!

4. Ask before you just barge into someone's office. Especially if the lady in the front office says the person is with someone or on the phone or not in there. I told you that for a reason. Don't peek around the corner to see if I'm lying or just run in there and wait. It's not your office, so wait. I'm there for a reason!

5. If someone is on the phone, don't hang out in their office waiting for them to get off. Maybe it's personal. Even if it's business, it's probably not your business, so wait in the lobby. Or if someone else is in there, wait until they leave before you barge in. Geez, people, get a clue!

6. If I, or anyone else, is on the phone, wait until they get off before speaking. I hate when I'm on the phone and someone just starts blabbing. Hello. Does the phone up to my ear not tell you that I'm with someone else? Wait your turn.

7. Do not, under any circumstances, ask about something I said while on the phone or talking with another person. I was on the phone with a customer and when I got off, one of our advertisers started asking me questions about what I was talking about. Yes, you are sitting in the same office, but at least pretend you aren't listening.

8. If I tell you something, don't turn around and ask someone the same question. Do you not think that I know what I'm talking about? Don't be a jerk.

Ok. I'm finished venting for now. I think I have covered everything that's happened lately that got to me. What do people do that get on your nerves?

I'm a Winner!

I love signing up for a good blog giveaway! There's no telling how many I've signed up for, but believe me, they've paid off. As of today, I've won and collected on 4! Go me!

My latest win is from Jennifer Roos, an Independent Stylist for Stella and Dot.

I won this at the end of November, had completely forgotten about it until I opened a box that was left in my mailbox yesterday. I was so excited to see the ring that I had won! It's gorgeous!

Isn't the packaging just cute?
 Well, hello to you!

Thanks so much, Jennifer! I absolutely love it!

Goals for 2012

Happy New Year, ladies! I hope the beginning to your year was fantastic and a great look at how your year will be! I decided that I'm not going to make resolutions this year, but goals instead. I never keep a resolution, but "goals" seem a little easier to attain. We'll see.

1. Be nicer to people.

2. Pray more.

3. Learn to be ok with being me.

4. Read more.

5. Remember these things daily.

What do you think of my list? What's on yours?
