Random Facts

You know those quirky little tid bits about people that seem kind of strange, but you find totally interesting? I love reading those about people. I shared one with a friend last night, and they thought it was crazy. So I thought I'd share a few with my readers. Feel free to think I'm a little nuts after you read these. Most people that know me claim I am anyway! ;)
  • I hate monkies. I hate hearing them. I hate talking about them. I hate seeing them. They give me the creeps, and I think they are just gross. I was going to post a picture, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.
  • I don't like water hitting my face. I use Neutrogena wipes to wash my face. I don't like going under water in a pool. If it rains, my head is down.
  • I pick at things. If my nails are painted, they usually won't last long. If something is coming unraveled or chipped, I'll pick at it. I ruined a phone cover that had crystals on it, because one came off, and I picked more than half of the rest of them off.
  • I don't like the numbers that show up on my iphone telling me there are messages or missed calls or my turn on Words with Friends or Draw Something. I have to clear them off immediately.
  • I can't stand being hot. I'd much rather be freezing with a blanket than warm or hot.
  • I have to have a drink with me at all times. If I get too thirsty, it's all I can think about until I get a drink. A drink and chapstick. Always.
I'm sure there are a ton more, but that's all I've got right now.
What are some random, quirky facts about you?

Oh. And don't forget my giveaway! You have until Friday to enter. Go here.

How I Make The Money

I'm so excited about this linkup. I've always wondered what my favorite bloggers did from 8-5...ya know, besides reading blogs, of course.
Let me start from the beginning. I went to school at Western Kentucky University.
 Go Tops!

After graduating in December of 06 with a degree in English and Allied Language Arts and a certification in secondary education, I got my first teaching job!
I taught sophomores, juniors, and seniors. And I absolutely loved it. I had been dreaming about becoming a teacher my whole life.

After leaving that school (which was a  huge mistake), I started teaching at a school only 20 minutes from home. That was a  nightmare. If you want to read more about that, go here and here. In the meantime, I went back to school for my master's in school counseling.

After quitting the teaching gig after 4 years, I started working for my dad in his office. I'd done this in college, and a week every summer during the current worker's vacation, so I knew what I was doing.

I'm still here, 2 years later. What do I do? I do billing, taxes, payroll, answer phones, take care of the customers when they come in, rent cars, blah blah blah. You know, all of the fun stuff.
Job 2.
In addition to working for my dad, I also do therapy. This was totally unexpected, but has been awesome. I wanted to be a school counselor, so I never even thought about becoming a therapist outside of a school system. A friend gave a clinic my number, the owner called me, and I started working with a 3 year old little boy who has Autism. Since I started working for my dad full time, I had quit doing therapy (after a few months). I missed him a lot; it's crazy how attached you become.

The lady that replaced me, got a full time position, so he was without a therapist again. The owner contacted me again about doing a few hours a week, and I had to do it. I had missed him, like I said, and I felt like I needed to use my degree for something. So now I meet with the client 4 hours a week, 2 hours each on Tuesday and Thursday. It doesn't seem like a lot, but I love working with him. I never in a million years dreamed I would be doing this kind of therapy, but I love it. I've learned so much in the few months I've been doing it.
So that's it. I'm an office manager by day, and a part time therapist by afternoon. It's totally  not what was in the "plan," but God had a different one for me, apparently. You've heard the saying "You make plans, God laughs." That's exactly how it happens!

Sunday Social: Jobs & Fears

Sunday Social

1. What is your dream job?
I would love to cast movies and tv shows and/or choose what the actors wear on set. Wouldn't that  be so fun?
Or just this.

2. If you had just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time? No question, I would travel. I'd also love to volunteer at St. Jude's Childrens Hospital

3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Teacher. I had dry erase boards taped/nailed into the back of a bedroom door at my Nannys and would play teacher for hours on end.

4. What piece career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field? Teaching- Make sure you are prepared. Prepared for the enormous amount of time, stress, and work that goes into what you are about to do. There are many rewards, but tons and tons of work to see them.
Source: google.com via Melanie on Pinterest
I'm no longer teaching, but working in the office of my dad's business. Advice? Just breathe. Be patient. And learn to look over the stupidity and rude behavior of the public.

5. Biggest Pet Peeves either in life or in blogging or at work?  The amount of people that come in and expect things to be given to them because a. they either don't have money (and are used to being handed things), or b. because they have a specific "name" and think it should get them somewhere. If you are rude, I have no patience for you.

6. Biggest Fears? (I made it work related) I have noticed that I have lost respect and faith and trust in people, mainly due to question #5. I hope that it doesn't turn me against people in general. That would be terrible, because I know there are still good, honest people out there.

Friday Letters

I'm soooo happy it is Friday. So happy, in fact, that I've been singing random songs I haven't heard in forever. And by random, I mean Spice Girls and some song from the olden days, "We Got The Beat." What is wrong with me?

So, here are mah letters.

Dear Readers: I have a giveaway going on. You should enter. It's a super cute bracelet. Promise. Go here!

Dear Olympics: I feel a little unAmerican saying this, but I'm just not excited about the Olympics. Yeah, I'll cheer good ole USA on. I may even watch, even if it is just to see some super hot men compete against one another. You know who you are, Ryan Lochte.

You are welcome for this photo.
Dear Target: Please stop tempting me with your awesome clearance sales and uber cute stuff. My bank account cusses me everytime I walk in your doors. Oh, and my stress is increased a tad bit because I like you so much.

Dear Pinterest: I know you've been around forever and a day, but thank you. Because of you, I can pin hundreds of fun and pretty things onto my wishlist. And because of this, my family can look to see just what they want to get me for my birthday, Christmas, or just because. And if you want to see what is on my wishlist, click here. PS. If you need my address to send an item or two or ten to me, just ask. :)

Dear Commenters: I love love love reading your responses. But please, make sure that you have enabled your email so I can actually respond. I love responding. But can't do that if it says "no-reply commenter". Just check it out, k?

Have a great Friday, lovelies!

So what?

So what ...

if I bought two clutches this week. I'm feeling a little guilty (more on this later).

if I get annoyed when people are extremely rude to me. Especially when you work with me. If you are going to be a dick, I'm going to ignore you and not be friendly like I used to be.

if I love the people that I chat with on blog and twitter. My IRL friends may not "get it," but that's ok. I've talked to some of you about things that I haven't with them. And that's ok too.

if I read entries on a link up, and now I'm totally obsessed with the bags that I've seen. I blame Neely for my constant online shopping and making my wishlist grow.

if I like talking to some people more than others. Some are just more interesting.

if I'm scared to death to list my house with an agent. If I really do sell, where will I go?

I was perusing Pinterest like usual when I'm a little bored, and I came across this little gem of a throwback. 333 reasons why  being a 90's girl rocked. Hello! Instant fun.

Source: tressugar.com via Ali on Pinterest
I've been looking through the pictures shaking my head in agreement, because yes, those pogs were fun, and yes, those slouch socks and curly shoelaces with a denim skort were cool. Then, I find it sad when those things are unfortunately still around or coming back 20 years later... stirrup pants, toe rings, anklets.

Here are a few of my faves to reminisce on.

I just knew I'd live in a mansion with my favorite crush while driving 3 kids around in a Mustang cause MASH said so.

JTT. Enough said.

I read every single book. Then sold them. Then bought the 1st 5 off of eBay a few years ago. For memories, ya know?

Loved this thing. Have you seen the huge adult ones in the middle of the mall? I want one.

I had the couch, chair, and foot stool. They were awesome.

I think I had this exact one. So handy...a skirt and shorts in one.

My favorite book as a kid. Loved it.
Thank you, Bridesmaids movie, for bringing back the greatness known as Wilson Phillips.

Had these.
Weren't the 90s the best? And most embarrassing?

Sunday Social: Purses

Sunday Social
1. Favorite Handbag You've Ever Owned
I bought this Brahmin about 2 years ago, and it's the nicest bag I own. I usually don't pay that much for a bag, but thought that this would be one I would carry forever since it's genuine leather and pretty simple.

I've had this Nine West bag the longest. It's a metallic bronze-y goldish silverish color. I  usually don't keep bags long, but I've had this one forever.

 2. Dream Handbag You Lust Over
There are soo many!  If money were no option, I would hands down buy a Hermes Birkin. How classic is it? And how sad is it that this bag cost more than my car? Oh me.....

Realistically, I'd take any of the following bags. I love a good leather bag that will always  be in style. I mean if you are going to drop quite a bit of change for it, I better keep it awhile.

I love this cognac color and embossing of this Dooney bag.

Another leather Dooney, but in a fun color.

This isn't a leather bag, but I love the leopard. I'm not a huge fan of the traditional Coach bag with all of the c's everywhere (for that much money), but I LOVE this one. Leopard is always in style, right?

3. Daily Essentials in Your Purse
Phone, lip gloss/stick/chapstick, wallet, nook, and makeup bag.

Daily Essentials

4. What's in Your Purse

What's inside? Listed left to right, top to bottom.
Top row: Liz purse, Nook inside Vera Bradley ereader cover, receipts, forms from therapy on Thursday (that I still have to do a report on...ugh)
Middle Row: Gold makeup bag from Gap Outlet, Fossil wallet, old Blackberry, "Shopaholic" picture album, list, mail
Bottom row: checkbook, pens, extra keys to house and car, Trident layers gum, minteas (from Birchbox this month!), sunglasses, camera
No wonder it's so heavy!!

What's inside the makeup bag, you ask?
Pepto Bismal pills, B&BW hand gel, Mary Kay pressed powder, EOS lip balm (best ever), extra tampon, eye drops, 2 eyeliners, Revlon lipstick and lip butter, Mary Kay lip gloss, hair tie.

Did you link up with Neely and Ashley? Let me know so I can check it out.
What's in your bag?

Friday Letters

Dear Friday- What the heck is going on? You have absolutely overwhelmed me; we have been SO busy with customers and calls.  I'm just NOW logging into Blogger. This is unheard of for a Friday morning. Please calm it down.

Dear iPhone- You have changed my life. How have I gone so long without you? I loooooove you.

Dear phone cover- Please get here soon. I'm ready for some pretty polka dots to cover my precious iPhone. Hurry it up, Hong Kong.

Dear future monogrammed phone cover- Don't worry. I haven't forgotten about you. My funds are too low to even consider you right now, cause girl, you are pricey. But don't fret, you will be mine soon enough.

Dear emotions- I know I say this every week, but puhlease calm the eff down. Not only are you driving me crazy, but you are driving everyone around me a little cray too.

Dear Mio Black Cherry- Yummo. I tried the lightning green crap, and it was too sweet, but you, my friend, are perfect. I've consumed so much more water since you've made your way into my life.

Dear friends- Happy Friday! Hope you each have an awesome weekend! :)

I'm obsessed

I'm obsessed. I absolutely LOVE heels, but don't wear them often ever. For some reason, though, I still feel the need to buy them, in case I get the urge to begin. And these are my current crush.

Love My Target Heels

Y'all. These are amazing. They are super high, but are so easy to walk in. And look at them. Cute, right? Originally, they were $29.99. I wasn't going to pay that for something I may or may not wear. Emphasis on may not. But when I saw them on clearance for $14.98? I had to. HAD TO! First it was the pink ones earlier this year. But my conscience got the best of me, and I returned them.

Then I got the glitter ones last month. Why? No idea. I thought they would be fun. The next week, I was back at Target and decided to try on the leopard. Loved them. Obsessed, guys. But they were regular price, and again, just not doing it. While visiting another Target, I saw the pink ones again. My heart had been missing them a whole lot since I had returned them. So I guiltily bought them. Again.

This past weekend, my heart did another flutter. Leopard. With a big clearance sign underneath. I argued with myself the entire walk around the store. But I had to buy them. I would regret it, right? So when I got to checkout, I put those bad boys on the counter with the rest of my items and waited. Last second, I changed my mind. "I don't think I'm going to get those" I told the lady, mentally kicking myself for being practical.

Then, the devil on my shoulder started working. But you've wanted them since you've seen them. You might as well get them now. They ARE on clearance. They won't have your size when (not if) you come back. So she won. I marched right back in, not even a minute later, and bought them.

Practical self is still wondering if I really should keep all 3. Maybe I should return one or two pair since I won't wear them a ton. But for $15 does it matter? (Granted that is almost $50 bucks total.)

What would you do? Do you love them as much as I do?

Current Crush Thursdays

This became a super long post for something I was just going to share a picture and a few words about my love for them. Ah well.

50 Shades of Grey Movie Cast

The whole time I read the trilogy, I could never picture anyone to be the characters. Ever. But since then, I've been thinking constantly of who could play the characters in the movie. (Wouldn't that be the best job? Casting for a movie?)

I've put together my list of possible actors. Here are my thoughts:

Christian Gray
It's all over the web that Ian Somerholder will be Christian in the film. He would definitely fit, but I see Cam as Grey. Let his hair get shaggy, dye it, and you have Mr. Grey.

Anastasia Steele
She needs to look young and innocent. While Nina Dobrev would be perfect (the "it" Ana), you know I like to go against the grain. I'm going with Leighton Meester.

Kate Kavanagh
Tall. Blonde. Beautiful. Smart. I think Blake would be perfect!

Elena aka Mrs. Robinson
And finally for the old tramp we love to hate. She's got to be older, but beautiful with some sex appeal.

I wanted to do some of the other characters, but thought this would be a good start. Who would you pick to play Christian, Ana, Kate, and Elena?

Monday Randoms

I was talking about lists this morning, and thought it would be perfect for today, since my thoughts are pretty much all over the place. So here is what's been up.
  • Scheduled a house showing for Saturday at noon. After spending some of Friday evening and Saturday morning cleaning like a mad woman, I waited for them to ring the bell. And waited. And waited. They never showed up. Didn't even call. I wasn't happy. How rude is that to not even call?
  • While cleaning, I finally took it upon myself to clean out my vaccuum. I'm not a do-it-yourself type girl. I wait for others to take care of it. But after my vaccuum sucking....actually it didn't suck. That was the issue. After it being lame, I finally got it apart and cleaned. Take that, floors!
  • I slept a lot this weekend. It was rainy Saturday. Perfect napping weather. And Sunday...well isn't that what Sunday afternoons are for?
  • Which means I couldn't sleep at all at night, was up until early morning, and slept in a bit the next morning. This morning was rough, to say the least.
  • I got to spend a few hours with my precious niece. She is the cutest thing ever and makes the funniest expressions.

  • Of course she is sleeping all of the time, but I can't wait until she starts talking and playing. I've already been looking for some ideas for Christmas. She will be 6 months, so I'm not sure what would be appropriate. Ideas?
  • I visited a church yesterday morning. I hadn't been to church in awhile. I won't get into why or what's been going on in this head of mine, but I woke up yesterday feeling like I needed to go. I'd visited this one a few times before, and really liked the preacher. Long story....but please say a prayer that I get all of this worked out in my head. Or just say a prayer for me. In general.
  • Last point. Do you ever find your writing style changing? I've noticed mine lately. Every post is different. Am I the only weirdo that does that?

Dear Cupcake Moscato- I just tried you for the very first time this week, and seriously, best wine ever. I've tried wine after wine, and have yet to find one I love. You, my friend, are it.

Dear Patience- It'd be great if you could become available. Period. I've never been around you much, but I feel like I need you now more than ever. Thanks.

Dear Feelings- Stop getting hurt so much. People are going to be the way they are. You can't change that. Toughen up, please. Pretty please.

Dear Money Tree- Where the heck are you? I wish for you all the freakin' time and you still aren't around. Are you hiding from me?

Dear Lady Coming to Look at My House Tomorrow- Are you the one that will buy it? I think it will be perfect for you. I just know it! I hope you love it.

Dear Twitter Followers- I lost two of you this morning. Hmph. Thats alls I gots to say.

Dear Readers- It's Friday! Hallelujah. Have an awesome weekend, lovelies! :)
