It's Ok, isn't it?

Its Ok Thursdays

It's ok that I've been a ball of emotion this week, all because of one thing.

It's ok that I'm insecure and panicky, along with all of that said emotion. (Not really...but if I say it, maybe it will be ok.)

It's ok that I had to take money from savings to pay bills this week because I spent a little too much money online shopping. Oopsies!

It's really ok that it's going to be in the 70's this week. Holla!

It's ok that I get really excited when I get a text or tweet or email from a friend. Especially certain friends. :D

It's ok that I desperately want to meet some bloggy/twitter friends. That totally doesn't make me weird or stalkerish, right?

It's ok that I'm totally excited for the weekend, even though I don't have any crazy plans.

What are you ok about today?

Pinterest Finds: Spring

Spring is just around the corner. If you don't believe me, just step outside. We have weather in the 60's and 70's this week, and daffodils are blooming.

I like having a focus when I do my pinterest finds, so this week, I'm focusing on spring fashion. Spring lines are starting to hit the stores, bathing suits are already out for goodness sake, and I'm loving all of the color!

These are perfect for a pop of color to an otherwise subdued outfit.

Would wear these so much!

Love this for cooler days.

This screams spring to me.
Love this color combo!

I'm a sucker for wedges, and these are perfect!

Yes, please!
This color is fantastic!

This is me to a T. Basic, but classic with pop of color!

What are you looking most forward to for spring?

I think I may be going crazy

Y'all. I think I've lost my ever-loving mind. What has gotten into me, you ask?

I want to go back to school. Yep.

Why does this make me crazy? Well let me tell ya.
1. I already have 2 degrees; neither of which I'm using.
2. I'm already $20K in debt over the latest degree, which I had to get to keep my teaching certification.
3. I have absolutely NO idea what I would go back to school for.
4. I've already agreed to do this current job for a long, long time.

Despite those crazy things, I have the urge, today, to take a class or two. I just like it.

Maybe if they were free.....

This Means War

My weekend started off with a girls night: dinner and a movie. After eating at my absolute favorite place in town, Little Taste of Texas, and catching up with these ladies (that I don't see nearly enough), we headed to the theater see This Means War.

While this was a typical chick-flick, it was super cute. I absolutely adore Reese Witherspoon, I mean we are practically bffs already, and Chelsea Handler was also in the movie. She did really well, I thought.

The showstopper was this man, Tom Hardy.

Oh. My. Gawd. My heart melted every time he came on screen. Just look at those lips. And that accent. I think I found a new love interest. ;)

Have you seen This Means War? What did ya think?

It's Ok

Its Ok Thursdays

It's ok that I'm in a total blog funk and can't seem to shake it. But bear with me. I hope to be back and hopping tomorrow for some confessions. That's ok, right?

Pinterest Pins

I haven't linked up or shared any pinterest finds in a long while, so I thought I would do that today. (I'm also trying to recuperate from last night, so I couldn't do anything too deep today.)

When I need a lift-me-up or a reminder about things, I often pull up the board with words to remember or inspiration. These are a few that I am loving this week.

10 Quirky Tidbits

You know those little things you do out of habit that people think are just strange? We all have them. So I thought I would share some of mine.....but don't make fun. Actually, you can. I can take it! :)

  • I'm in my 20's and still pick the crust off of my sandwich bread most of the time.

  • I eat a hot pocket the exact same way, every single time. Cut off the edges and eat them. Eat the top and bottom. Then eat the middle "stuffing". I admit, this is a little strange.
  • If I start reading a book, I have to finish it. I hate stopping in the middle.
  • My house is never tidy; there is always something lying around, but my work station has to be organized. It kills me if it's not.
  • Just recently (like in the last few months), I've started taking off my makeup before bed. Now, I can't go to sleep unless I've taken it off and my face is clean.
  • I don't go to the basement at night. The washer and dryer are down there, and I often let laundry sit because it scares me to go down after dark. Someone may be lurking down there....ya never know!

  • I absolutely hate toenails that do not have polish on them. I think it just looks gross. Feet are gross anyway, but I just can't take the no polish look.
  • I hate getting my hands dirty.
  • I like to drive if someone is in the car with me, but hate to drive alone.
  • I have chapstick everywhere: by the couch, in my nightstand, in my purse, in my car, at my desk...I must have it available at all times.

Hello, ladies (and gents if there are any of you reading)! My name is Melanie, and I'm the face behind this little blog, Sarcasm and Curls.

Sarcasm and Curls. If you are wondering where those two random words came from, let me explain. Everyone I come into contact with comments on my curly hair. Everyone. And the only words I ever hear my friends use to describe me is sarcastic and witty. And that's the story of the blog title.

This little blog is just about me. Things going on with me: shopping trips, movies and books, stories about work, crafts, know, everyday life. I started blogging because I needed a way to de-stress, and writing does that for me. I started reading some blogs, thought "Hey, I can do this," and here we are.

A few things about me:
  • I write about pretty much every thing. This blog doesn't focus just on fashion, or work, or reviews. It's my life, and I include pretty much all of it in my writing. Good, bad, or ugly, I try to keep it real.
  • I don't have children, but I do have a 2 lb. Yorkie. She is my little girl, and I treat her like a child. I dress her up, buy her presents, and spoil her. Don't judge me.

  • Sarcasm come out a lot in this blog (again, hence the name), so don't be offended if I go on a rant here or there. I like to laugh, and I like to write to make people laugh.
  • I'm a social media junkie. If you check my computer, I'm either on facebook, twitter, pinterest, or blogger. Add me.
  • I love sports, especially UK basketball. I get crazy, white girl if a game is on.

I love making new friends and meeting new people. Please introduce yourself so I can get to know you!

Q&A Mondays

Linking up with Shasta Anne for another week of q and a's.
1. What was the best day of your life? To be honest, I'm not sure if I've had the best day of my life yet. Nothing really stands out as being the absolute best day.
2. What was the worst day of your life? Definitely the day when my 20 year old cousin, who I was close to, was killed.
3. Do you know how to swim? Yes. I'd rather just float around though.
4. Cup ½ empty or ½ full? I'd like to say it is half full, but honestly, I'm more of a half empty kind of girl. I worry and constantly think about what could happen or what people could be thinking. It's a horrible habit.
5. Where were you born?  I live where I was born. In a small town in south central Kentucky.
6. Are you a morning person? Absolutely not! I'm grumpy until I get fully woken up.
7. Are you a spontaneous person? Some may say yes, but for the most part, no. Like I mentioned earlier, I always worry about what if...
8. How many tattoos do you have? 4
9. Have you ever milked a cow? No
 10.   What was the most adventurous thing you have ever done? Probably the tattoos.

Remember that little post I did a few times about the dumb stuff people do? Well, it's baaaaaack! Grab a drink, pull up a chair, and get ready to shake your head in amazement at the stuff people do that annoy the piss out of me.

1. I called a customer to tell them their vehicle would be finished at 10 tomorrow. Their reply? "Morning?" I pause. Well.....we close at 5. I highly doubt you are special enough for us to stay over an extra 5 hours to work on your vehicle.

2. We have a major car rental company chain in our offices. I do both. We only take credit cards just to keep it simple. I asked for the man's credit card. He said, "I have cash too." I reply, "I'm sorry, we only take credit cards. No cash." As I'm working on his rental he says, "You all don't take cash?" I say, "Nope. Only credit cards." After the computer system declines his card, he states, "Will you take this cash." HELLO?! If I said no the first and second time, I doubt I'll say the words, "Ya know, I was just kidding you earlier. We DO take cash! Sike!"

3. I'm the first person you see when you come into our door. Most of the time they ask for my dad, the boss. Many times, he is on the phone or with someone, so I tell them that and that he will be right out. What do they do? Barge right on into his office. Wait. Didn't I just say it would be a minute? If you are going to do that, why the hell do you think I'm sitting here?

I got my first mean comment this past weekend. It was rude, incredibly mean, insulting, and hurtful. The commenter, who was also conveniently Anonymous, had the intention of hurting me.

As I read it, I know my jaw hit the ground. I was in shock. How in the world could this person, who knows nothing about me, write something so hateful and hurtful? Then I got upset. I swear, I cried and cried. I deleted the post immediately. Then I thought about deleting my whole blog. The more I thought about it, the angrier I got.

Now? I'm over it. Thanks to some awesome blog/twitter friends that lifted me up when this Anonymous commenter got me down. Yes, it brought out some evil spirited people, but look what it also brought me. Friends that I never would have met otherwise.

So, Anonymous commenter, you didn't have the guts to leave your name. And that's ok. Your words mean nothing to me.  But to the people that leave positive comments and are truly good people, I thank you. You make this little ole blog worthwhile! :)

Pinterest Fail: Toaster Grilled Cheese

I was at home for lunch eating chili one day last week, and remembered the toaster grilled cheese picture from pinterest. Since I didn't have a lot of time, I thought I would try this out.

My take:

The toaster didn't pop it out like normal, and I had a burnt, stinky, mess on my hands.
