The problems with a holiday birthday....

....is that everyone forgets.

Yes, it does have it's pros.... extra par in the partay! There is always a party, people dress up, and it's just a FUN time!

However, most people get so excited about Halloween that they forget its MY birthday. I realize that this makes me sound a little self absorbed, but birthdays are seriously the most special day of the year. The day is all about the birthday girl or guy! I totally believe that.

But....my family is all about the trick or treaters. I've never really celebrated my birthday with them on my actual birthday because heaven forbid we miss some kids dressed up as a princess. (Yes, this makes me feel like I don't matter.)

This year is no different. My parents live in a subdivision now and they decided they were going to stay at home and pass out candy (instead of come to my house for food, cake, hand out candy, etc like they have for the past few years.) I seriously broke down last night. I cried and kept thinking how pathetic it was that I was going to have to spend my birthday all alone, to spend Halloween all alone.

A few hours later, Mom calls and says they are coming over. I msg my sister and she said they were coming over anyway. So now, all is well. I'll be with my family. I'll be with others on my birthday.

Yep, I dodged that bullit.

Have a great weekend, ladies!

Celebrate Good Times, C'mon!

Y'all. My birthday is next week, and if you know me, birthdays are uber special. It's a day all about ME!
And in good fashion, I want to celebrate with you, my fabulous readers!

Come back next week, on my birthday, because I'm giving away one of my favorite items! Yep, I'm giving away something...on MY birthday. (I'm reiterating that because my sister thought the concept was puzzling!) I can't wait!

Did you know they are married?

So I haven't done this in awhile, but after the morning I've had, I feel like it's appropriate for today.

Did you  know these two were married? Whaaa, you say!?

So, get this. We keep ABC on in our office. This lady (whom I can barely understand because her English is sooo terrible) says "She married to much older man."

I'm thinking, well I don't know  how much older Mr. Mark Consuelos is, but he may look a little older. Whatever.

"Ohhh, there he is. That her husband!" she screams, pointing at the television.

It's freakin' Regis Philbin....ya know...her co-host. They are doing their little bit before the guests come on. I said, "No. That's not her husband."

She proceeds to yell in a matter of fact tone, "Yes, it is. That her husband. I know it is."

So instead of arguing with the idiot, I just say, "Oh. Ok."

Lady. Are you off your rocker. First, any  idiot that watches the show knows they are not married. Second, why yell at me? About someone being married (who obviously isn't)?

I had more, but I think I'm going to just leave it with this one. By the time I'm finished with all of the insane people I deal with, I could have written a book, and I want to spare you, fine readers.

Hope your day is starting better than mine!

Peace & Blessings, y'all.

Weekly Shopping Road Trip

Remember my post from last week about my shopping trip? Well, it would probably suffice to say that this Saturday was pretty much the same.

My shopping partner, Megan, met me at my house at 8. The car was full of gas, we stopped at Mickey Dees to get some yummy, greasy breakfast and hit the road. I did try the new Peppermint Mocha, and was not a fan. Anywho- we drove the 2 hours to get to my favorite Kentucky city, Lexington. We passed the time by doing what else...talking and singing, of course.

A few hours later, we arrived at Commonwealth Stadium for the noon football game. We knew that this was supposed to be a pretty boring game; it was against Jacksonville State, the Cats have not had a good season, and the tickets were free. BUT, any excuse to go to Lex-Vegas, we are there. We got to park pretty much by the entrance to the field and had plenty of room in our seats. That empty! However, the weather was absolutely perfect.

Notice the empty stands....yeah....we couldn't give away our extra tickets.
We left at the end of the first half...I mean, shopping was on the agenda, and Meg and I were twiddling our thumbs in anxiousness for what was ahead. We ran to the bookstore so I could get a UK sweatshirt blanket. I had found one at Target on clearance for $25, and passed it up. I went back to get it and lo and behold, it was gone. Grrr. So after stewing on it for a few days, I decided to get one, even if it was original price. I also found a sweatshirt for $15 bucks, so I scooped it up.

Sweatshirt blanket $36

I got a dark gray. $14.95
We passed Kennedy Book Store on the way back to the mall, so we stopped there also. I picked up a decal, and an antenna pom. I saw this shirt and desperately wanted it, but wasn't sure how appropriate it would be for my small town. I mean the word "ass" on a shirt is just not a classy thing. But I loved it.

Love it!

We made our way to Target (because  you know, every one is different). Then across the street to the mall. The first store we stopped at was, of course, a Kentucky store. So, I picked up a UK long sleeve tee; I absolutely LOVE long sleeve tees. Perfect for fall!

Except mine's not Nike. $9.99
We decided after our 4th Kentucky store, that we were not allowed to look at anything UK. You would think we were brand new students trying to scoop up everything UK. Ah well...our purchases will definitely be used.

We ran into Penney's so I could get some shirts to wear under sweaters and such, and of course, we had to detour through the shoes. Some boots, that I had tried on previously, were only $40 bucks, they fit, so I got them. They aren't the brand I wanted, and they aren't real leather, but for 40 bucks, I got them. (The ones I want cannot be found anywhere! I've looked for 2 weeks!)

JCPenneys. $39.99
After some more shopping along Nicholasville Rd., we headed to get some food. We passed by The Melting Pot, and since I had never been, we stopped. Oh my, was it good. That chocolate was to die for. I think if the bartender had left the bar, I would have licked the pot. That good.
Cheddar Cheese fondue, apples, and bread.

After that, we headed home. I'm not sure how we made it without falling asleep. 13+ hours of nothing but running around is a long day! Nevertheless, Meg and I had a good ole time. Btw- Whit....you  missed out, girl.We had an awesome, though exhausting, time. I'm anxious to see what next weekend holds!

Help!

SO, friends, I have a problem. I found (from One King's Lane) a coupon for Erin Condren planners. Half off! Hells yeah!!!! Cause there was no way in Hades that I was paying 50 bucks for a dang planner!

So anywho, my problem is this. I can't for the life of me decide on a cover! (Pretty lame problem, huh?) I've narrowed it down to 2, possibly 3.

1. Wild- This is what my sister says is "so me." Animal print and Melanie just go together like peanut butter and jelly!

Tan one on the left.
2. Turquoise- This is the one I keep coming back to. It's the one I say, "this is it!"

Middle one or the one on the right.
3. I can also get the same pattern as turquoise, but with a different color background. So what color would I choose? Red? Crimson? Purple? Green?

White pattern would be the same. Background color can be changed.
So now it's up to you! Which cover do I go with? PLEASE give your vote!

Happy

I love doing happy lists; it reminds me that little things can make me happy! (And not to worry so much about other things!) So here is a list of mine!
Photobucket

B&BW Hot Chocolate Candle. Seriously, guys. Close your eyes and you think that there is a big pot of hot chocolate on the stove. Smells JUST LIKE real hot chocolate. Amazing!

Jackson's Orchard in BG, KY. It's pretty much a requirement to visit this place in October every year. Fried pies, apple cider, peach ice cream...and not to mention the beautiful scenery.

I picked up a bag of these (or 2) in the Target Dollar bins. Ohmygosh...so yummy.

And I can't forget these gals. They put up with my when I'm crazy, off my rocker and when I'm down and fuming over some boots. (Even if they did get a little huffy with me on Sat, I suppose I would have too!)

What are you happy about today?

Recaps and Randoms

Recapping on Monday just seems like a given. That's why I'm linking up with Carissa for Miscellany Monday.
Miscellany Monday @
lowercase letters

  • After leaving therapy (no, I'm not IN therapy, even though I probably should be....I'm the therapist!) I heard a pop, like I'd run over something. I stopped, got out, checked my tires, and they seemed to be fine. I made a few stops, and drove on to job #2 with no problems. However, while driving home from work, a warning came on in the car about tire pressure. I finally got home and saw a bolt sticking out of the tire. GREAT! It was after 5, I had plans for that night and a trip for the next day.
  • Took it to Walmart and 3 hours later, I was plugged and ready to go! Wait....my tire was plugged. He told me to keep an eye on it since it was such a big hole, but all was well.
  • Appetizer Sampler at Applebees was a feel good meal later on!
  • Sitting across the way from an ex's  parents was a little awkward.
  • Footloose was put on hold due to car tire troubles and time constraints. Dang it. I was so excited!!

I can't wait to see this!!!

  • The next morning was Glendale Harvest Festival. Tons of booths was fun. Hundreds (maybe even a few thousand) people was not fun. It almost makes me want to skip it from now on.
  • I did end up with an Amish Laundry Basket (my goal for the festival). I'm putting it in my living room to store blankets and throws. So excited!

Not mine, but just like the one I bought. Photo via.

  • We left there and went on to Louisville to hunt for some riding boots. After 3 malls, a strip of stores, and a trip to Target...and hours and hours later, we came home with NO boots. I was on the verge of tears. That's what happens when you try on countless boots and none fit over your larger than normal calves. Even a pair of "wide calf" boots were too small. The whole afternoon was a mix between anger, depression, and delirium...all over a dang pair of boots.
Mia Elise Riding Boot. These are the exact boots I want, but can't find anything even similar to fit under $130! :(
  • Yesterday was a trip to lunch and some errands with the parents. Then I picked up my cousin, took him with me to see my Nanny and to the park. We played outside all day long. The weather was perfect!!! And I love that kid!
  • Finished the night off with some veggie soup, a peanut butter sandwich, and the reunion to Real Housewives of New Jersey! What the double EFF is Teresa on? She seemed so 'normal' the first 2 seasons, and then this season she has gone cuh-ray-zee!  Seriously, Teresa!? Why are you turning on everyone? I can't wait until next week!!

I think that's the end of my novel! Sorry for the length, but it was just a crazy busy weekend! What did you all get into?

Hey! It's ok!

It's ok that I have "friends" that I don't really like. Sometimes, you just don't get along with some people. Sometimes situations and people change, and you just aren't as close as you used to be.

It's ok that I'm in my mid to late twenties (gosh that was hard to type) and I just love Taylor Swift. I don't think she's the best singer in the world, but I do think she has the best personality. I would totally hang with her. Call me!

It's ok that I'm sad that I've lost some followers. As I mentioned before, some people just don't click.....but I'm still sad.

It's ok that I've spent 2 weeks trying to find the perfect riding boots (and still looking....). It's my goal to find them this weekend!

It's ok that I wanted to burst into tears when I tried on some skinny  jeans and tall boots this morning because it looked horrible. I do not have the body to wear those jeans...And these were too baggy to be skinny jeans. And the boots were too tight. Not a pretty sight.

What are you okay with today?

Fall and Halloween Pins

I'm linking up with The Vintage Apple for Pinterest Wednesdays. For the month of October, I'm showing some fall/Halloween ideas from my "Holiday Ideas" board. I can't wait to try some of these; I guess I better get moving if I want to get them out in time!

google

Just get some socks and boots, and you are set!

LOVE this tree, but I can't imagine how much you would have to spend to make it look this good!

Cute!

Some brooms, shoes, and a canvas, and you are good to go!

Am definitely going to try this!

I really want to make this! Seems so simple!

Anything with feathers, and I'm in love!

This is $65 from an etsy seller, but I think it would be super easy to make!

How do you like my pins? I can't wait to try some of them, but I better get a move on if I want to show them before Halloween!

HELP-- Are you guys having trouble with blogger today? My writing is on top of each other. It's so weird!

PINTEREST HELP- I tried to embed the images from Pinterest, but it showed NO pictures! Here's what I did: click the embed button on Pinterest. Copy the image. Past code under "EDIT HTML" tab. What did I do wrong?

Hope you ladies have a great hump day!

Things on a Tuesday Morning

Things on a Tuesday morning that I should NOT have to be dealing with.....
  • Screaming kids running around the office. WHY are they  not in school?
  • Kids shoes that squeak...on purpose. What idiot created those?
  • People that are fully capable of doing simple tasks themselves, but put them on my desk for me to do.
  • Explanations on how to do things that I've done a million times already.
  • Me explaining things to adults that is common sense.

My chipper mood from yesterday must have vanished while I slept last night.

But let's end on a good note: I got a free breakfast sandwich from Mcdonalds from the many monopoly pieces that I've gotten. It's sad really, but hello free sandwich! Thanks, Mickey Dees!

Presenting Caramia Pupcake Smith

With all of the drama surrounding Mia these past few days, I wanted to share some more pictures of the precious princess. (And Kelly is doing a linkup of SUYL: Pets....I had to join in!)

I would officially like to present to you: Miss CaraMia Pupcake Smith
She loved her Uncle Toby so much. Sadly, he passed away from cancer last August.

She doesn't like her brother, Ralph, near as much. (Ralph also becomes Lucy...depending on if the attire is a for a girl or a boy!)

Mia loves her beauty sleep. "Pleez, Mummsy, no photos!"

She's often cuddling on a pillow.

Hanging out with her mumsy!

And she loves the sun. Doesn't every girl like lounging in the hot rays?

She likes it even better when she gets to catch some sun from her bed. She so spoiled!

The little one also likes to celebrate one of my favorite holidays: Halloween (and my birthday!)

Every child has to have a Christmas photo for the cards.  This one just happens to be my favorite!

Just like any girl, she loves getting presents! "Hurry, mom! What is it?"

Christmas photo from 2009---this one wasn't a go. Girl was off this day!

She loves mommy's bed!

Model material?  I think so!

She likes playing with her toys on the porch. She keeps an eye on the neighborhood!

Say a prayer that little Mia is back to normal in no time! Lil pup is sore.  :(
